Martocchia, 16 South Street, Greenport, .New York, on Tuesday, De~ember 7, 1971 at 3:00 P.M~, with the foltowing-~pressnt: Supervisor Albe~t M~ Martocchia, Councilman James H. Rich, Jr., Councilman Howard C. Valentine, Justice Martin Suter, Justice~Louis~.M. Demar~est% Town' Attorney Robert W. Tasker, Supt. of Highways Raymond C. Dca-n, and Town Clerk Albert W. Richmond. Absent: Justice E. Perry Edwards~ Supervisor Martocchia~ asked for a minute of silence in remembrance o~ Pearl Harbor Day. On motion of Councilman~Valentine, seconded by Justice Suter, it was RESOLVED: That the next meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Southold will be held at the office of Supervisor Albert M. Mart0cchia, 16 South Street,: Greenport~, New York, on Tuesday, December 21, 1971 at' 3:00 P.M. Vote-of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Valentine, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Suter, seconded by Councilman Rich, it was RESOLVED: That ~ minutes of'~November '~23, 1971 be and they hereby are approved. Moved by Councilman Rich, seconded by Custice Demarest, WHEREAS, Section 185 of the Town Law provides that Town Officers and Employees who receive and disburse monies of the Town shall account to the Town Board for all monies received and disbursed by them on or about the 28th day of December, but not later than the 31st day of-December in each year, and WHEREAS, the Town Board .deems it 5ecessa:ry to engage a~public accountant to prepare the aforesaid annual account for all Town officers and employees, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Board engage the services.of Irving ~iller, a~public accountant, to make the annual audit of the books and records of officers and employees of the Town of Sou[hold for the fiscal year 1971 at a com~ract fee of $1,000.00. Vote of the Town Board:. Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Valentine, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Councilman~ Valentine, seconded by~ Justice Suter, WHEREAS two bids were received for the haul and launching,' sand blasting~ and painting and general repair of the, M/V ~ystic Isle: - . ~ ~ -. Thomas Shipyard..&,Repair Co. $9,695.90 Newport Shipyard, Inq..~ $19.,225.00 NOW, THEREFORE, ,BE IT RESOLVED: Tha~ the Southold Town Board approves the ac. tion of the'Fishers Island Ferry District in accepting the bid for the specified work and repairs of the M/V Mystic Isle received .from the ~Thomas Sh. ipyard & ~epair Co., the lowest 'bidder at $9,695.90; all work to be done according to the specifications. :-~ Vote of the Town.Board: Ayes: ~upervisor Martocch~a~,..Councilman Rich, Councilman Vale,~ne, Justice S~ter, Just~c~ ~Demarest. Moved by Councilman Valentine, seconded ~y_J.ustice ~emarest, it was RESOLVED: That ~he salary of Frances Gaddis ~e increased $50Q.00 to the next step as per agreement. Frances Gaddis was appointed Clerk-Typist to the Police Department as of September 1, 1969. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Valentine, Justice S~te~, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest, seconded by Councilman. ~ich;.~ it was RESOLVED: That the salary of Sylvia Rouse b~ increased $500.00 to the next step as per agreement. Sylvia Rouse w~s, appointed Clerk-Typist to_the Board of-Assessors, for a p~obationary period of ~ix (6) monhhs as of September 1, 1970. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervismr Martocchia, Councilman Rich, .Councilman Valentine, Justice ~Suter, Justice~De~arest. ~Moved ~y. Justice Suter, seconded~by Councilman Rich, WHEREAS Marion Counci1-~3852~ Knights of Columbus, Cutchogue, New York applied to the Town Clerk for a Bingo License, and WHEREAS, the Tow~ Board has examined the application, and after investigation duly made findings and determinations as required by law, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and' he hereby is authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the Town Board the findings and determinations as required by law, and it is further RESOLVED: That the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to issue a Bingo License to the Marion Council ~3852, Knigh~ of Cclumbus. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Ualentine, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Councilman Valentine, seconded by COuncilman Rich, WHEREAS, this Board held a public hearing on the llth day of May, 1971, in the matter of the grant of a scenic easement by Gus Schad to affect property of the said Gus Schad situate on the north side of the North Road (Route 25), near Greenport, in the Town of Soutbold, Suffolk County, New York, and W~EREAS, this Board deems it in the best interest of the Town that the Town accept a scenic easement .as described in and defined in the proposed grant of scenic easement dated July 15, 1971, and acknowledged by the Said Gus Schad on said date. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town of Southold accept a scenic easemmnt on property owned by'G~s Schad located on the north side of Route 25 mast of the Village of Greenport, in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York comprising an area of 19.271 acres, more or less, all in accordance with the proposed grant of scenic easement executed by said Gus Schad dated July 1~, 1971, and IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Supervisor be and hereby as authorized and directed to execute said scenic easement agree- men~ on behalf of the Town of Southold and cause the same to be recorded in the Suffolk County Clerk's Office. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Valentine, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. On motion of Councilman V~lentine, seconded by Councilman ~ich, it was RESOLVED: That Justice Suter be and he hereby is authorized to purchase one file cabinet for his office. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Valentine, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Recess called at 3:45 P.M. to reconvene at 5:00 P.M. The Board reconvened at 5:00 P.M. Moved by Justice Demarest, seconded by Councilman Rich, it was RESOLVED: That $2,500.00 be and hereby is transferred from Surplus to Police Building Account, Floor Covering. Vote o~ the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Valentine, Justice Suter. Justice Demarest. Moved by Councilman Valentine, seconded by Justice Demarest, it was RESOLVED: That $5,000.00 be and hereby is transferred from Surplus to Furniture and Fixtures, Police Building. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Valentine, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Councilman Rich, seconded by Councilman Valentine, it was RESOLVED: That Supervisor Albert M. Martocchia be and he hereby is authorized ~dadvertise for bids for floor covering for the new Police Building. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Valentine, Justice Suter, Justice Demearest. Moved by Justice Demarest, seconded by Councilman Valentine, it was RESOLVED: That the Supervisor, Albert M. Martocchia, be and he hm~eby is authorized to enter into a lease for two (2) copy machines under the County Contract. Vote of the Town'Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman Rich, Councilman Valentine, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Councilman Valentinel Seconded by Councilman Rich, it was RESOLVED: That Supervisor Al'bert M. Martocchia be and he hereby is authorized to investigate the possibility of a generator for the police department~building.- Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman- Rich, Councilman Valentine, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest. Moved by Justice Demarest-, seconded by Justice Suter, it was RESOLVED: That ~eneral bills-in the amount of $391339.55; Fishers Island Ferry DiStrict bills in the amount of $18~031.88; Highway bills in the amount of $7,418.92; Special District bills=in~L'the amount of $10,582.79, and Capital Account bills in the am0u~t of $113.94 be and the same are hereby ordered paid.
