Apparently the church does not have the money at this time to complete the project as originally projected, and the current contractor has also taken some liberties with his interpretation of the plans. Regarding the ADA issue, if it is not possible to accept a 'future' installation of the access lift, I would propose instead that the new room in the cellar have a use change, to storage space. Then I believe no handicapped access would be required. I understand that there may also be some problem with regard to the kitchen door, which was, I am told, not located as per the plans . Please let me know your thoughts on these subjects, and I will work out some solution I am unable to meet with you as I am now working for a NYC firm, have been there only a short time, am extremely busy, and my boss would take a very dim view of my taking time off to travel to Southold during the week.
