Lic. # 150 IHI Dear Mr. Baessler: On 4/6/88 I and Gary Fish, also a Building Inspec- tor, observed 2 employees of All Weather Industries constructing an aluminum porch enclosure at 1345 Chapel Lane, Greenport, N.Y. This residence is owned by Tomis & Kathy (Alevras) Kourkoumelis. I asked the workers, I male and 1 female, if they had a building permit and they stated that they did not. I then told the~ to stop work, which was approx- imately 75% finished, until such time that a building permit was issued. The worker said they had a long way to travel and could they finish the job and then apply for the permit. I told them they could not. They then called Mr. Gelinas and asked me to speak to him, which I did. He t~ied to persuade me to allow the workers to finish the job but I told him not to continue until the permit was issued. I left,an inspection ticket stating no work was to Mr. William Baessler Page 2 April 27, ]988 be done. Mr. Fish and I then left. On 4/7/88 I returned to the site to post a follow- up stop work order and found that the job had been com- pleted without authorization. I* talked to Mr. & Mrs. Kourkoumelis when they applied for a building permit and they stated that Ail Weather Industries told them they did not need a permit. This is stated in a copy of the attached letter. They also stated that they were not satisfied with the work but since they paid they had no recourse. As per our phone conversation I am sending this letter as a complaint and would appreciate it if you would follow up on this matter. Yours truly, VRW:hdv Vincent R.
