This may have been noticed by the inspector who performed the insulation inspection. The windows have insulating glass. I hereby certify that the space meets the requirements of the New York State Energy Code, as does the entire house. The existing plaster walls and ceilings have a rating of one hour, as per Design # U315 of the 2000 Fire Resistive Directory, and the new walls and ceilings (constructed with 5/8" Type "X" gypsum board) also have a rating of one hour, as per Design #U305 of the same manual. The roof framing is not required to be rated, as per Footnote 2 of TABLE 1-704. With the classification of Type 5a, the permitted fire area is 7000 square feet. THIRD FLOOR The existing third floor, which has been included as habitable space in the recently issued Certificate of Occupancy, will not be altered without necessary approvals. FIRE AREA The fire area, within exterior walls, of the new and existing structure on all three habitable levels equals 6,915 square feet, below the maximum 7000 square feet.
