General Comments from the Public:
Question regarding status of new slide? Comm. Bergen replied the slide was supposed
to be delivered in September. He has made inquiries and has not received any replies.
Chris Shashkin to look for new slide under state contract and obtain a quotation.
Comm. Bergen asked for any other questions. Comment from audience regarding
broken halyard on flagpole and flag is ripped. Comm. Bergen stated the park district will
look into whether or not there is a halyard in supplies. If not, a new halyard will be
obtained and a new flag ordered.
Pat Kelly reported that the beach no longer exists at Allison Park. Comm. Bergen said
he has talked with Suffolk County Dredging and dredge crew determines where material
goes. Material is pumped onto the beach and moved around by bobcat. There is lots of
material.
Mr. Jordon asked if there is anything new on absentee ballots. Comm. Vail stated he
had telephoned Suffolk County Board of Elections. He passed on the information to the
other commissioners. Comm. Bergen asked Comm. Vail about specific process which
absentee voting requires. Comm. Bergen mentioned that he understood that this
involves a very specific mailing process with multiple steps, a staff member to handle
confirming that each ballot sent adheres to this process, and each ballot received is
received in the proper manner to be officially counted, and a specific process must be
followed to record and maintain the ballots submitted. Comm. Vail had no information
regarding this process so no further decision was made regarding a proposal for
absentee balloting to be included for this year.
Another member of the public asked if website was up and running and if so was
election petition on the website? Comm. Bergen replied in the affirmative to both
questions.
Meeting adjourned at 6:15 P.M.
