SCTM# 1000-25.-3-2.1 Owner: Gary Karrass Trust RESOLUTION: WHEREAS, 1495 Village Lane, Orient,NY, is on the Town of Southold Registry of Historic Landmarks; and WHEREAS, as set forth in Section 56-7 (b) of the Town Law(Landmarks Preservation Code) of the Town of Southold, all proposals for material change/alteration must be reviewed and granted a Certificate of Appropriateness by the Southold Town Historic Preservation Commission prior to the issuance of a Building Permit; and, WHEREAS, on August 10, 2023, the applicant's representative, Daniel Butler, Architect, submitted a proposal to construct additions and alterations to a single family dwelling, convert an accessory garage to a pool cabana, and to install a fence surrounding a rear yard including an in-ground swimming pool upon residential property listed on the Town of Southold Registry of Historic Landmarks; and WHEREAS, a Site Plan and Architectural Plans indicating proposed improvements, were prepared Daniel A. Butler, Architect, last revised September 19, 2023; were received by the Commission on September 21, 2023; and WHEREAS, the applicant came before the Commission on October 26, 2023, at a public hearing in order to review the proposed improvements to the single family dwelling, conversion of an accessory garage to a pool cabana, and the fence surrounding the rear yard including an in-ground swimming pool; and WHEREAS, the applicant shall submit to the Commissioners photographs of the finished improvements upon completion; and Certificate of Appropriateness#10.26.2023.1 HPC,Gary Karrass, 1495 Village Lane, SCTM No 1000-25-3-2.1 WHEREAS, the Commissioners may conduct a site inspection of subject premises once improvements are completed. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,that the Southold Town Historic Preservation Commission determines that Site Plan and Architectural Plans prepared by Daniel A. Butler, Architect (Sheets AR-0.0, AR-0.1, AR-1.0 thru AR71.4, AR-2.0, AR-2.1 and AR-3.0), last revised September 19, 2023, meets the criteria for approval under Section 170-8(A) of the Southold Town Code; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the Commission approves the issuance of a Certificate of Appropriateness, subject to approvals by all involved agencies; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that any deviation from the approved plans referenced above may require further review from the commission. A new dining room w � ° X and kitchen were added on the north side in 1875, but, other than that, the only m Q changes have been the removal of various chimneys, since the house was a originally heated by seven stoves and one big hearth. The fence is over 100 ° ° years old, and the cupola and ornamental woodwork of the porch are w W characteristic of the period. Captain Vail, who was born in 1832, was himself an ARCHITECT expert builder, having learned ship carpentry in Connecticut.
