Kaelin, Jr. Clerk X Lori Hulse Attorney X Ken Reeves Beach Manager X Benja Schwartrz Web Site Developer X Commissioner David Bergen opened the meeting at 6:00 P.M. in the community room of the Cutchogue New Suffolk Free Library. Comm. Bergen moved that the minutes of August 2, 2023 meeting be approved. Motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Public Comments on Agenda (Resolutions) items: As there was not any comment from the audience, Comm. Bergen moved on to the resolutions. Resolution #23-0032 —Amend Resolution #23-0030 regarding the award of the bid for construction of Parking in Allison Park to RJP Industries, Riverhead, N.Y to a total of $66,989.00. Comm. Bergen moved to rescind Resolution #23-0030. Motion seconded by Comm. Picchione. Motion passed unanimously. Comm. Bergen explained the Commissioner's authorized an architect to draw plans and specifications. Bids were advertised and one bid was received. Bid was accepted. Company then measured the area, plans did not meet specifications. Walkway was too short and specifications called for 3 parking spaces, 1 handicapped accessible. Southold Town recommends an asphalt apron. All Commissioner's looked at park. Bid costing close to $67,000.00. Additional work costing $11,300.00. Park District can do a change order. Commissioners decided that was not ethical. Resolution #23-0033 — The seasonal employment of employee #005 is hereby terminated effective August 20, 2023. Motion by Comm. Bergen, second by Comm. Picchione. Motion passed unanimously. Resolution #23-0034 - The Board of Commissioners of the Cutchogue New Suffolk Park District, a municipal corporation of the State of New York, agree and accept New York State Workers Compensation coverage as per Policy # 6661029, as per Executive Order U-435. Motion was moved by Comm. Bergen, seconded by Comm. Picchione, and approved unanimously. Resolution #23-0035 — To accept a check from the State of New York in the amount of $25,983.00. Motion by Comm. Bergen seconded by Comm. Picchione, passed unanimously. General Comments from the Public— No comments. Comm. Bergen moved the next park district meeting will be October 5, 2023 at the Cutchogue New Suffolk Free Library at 6:00 P.M. Motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Motion was made, seconded and passed unanimously to set the date of the Park District Commissioners Election as December 12, 2023. Attorney Hulse stated that nominations have to be received by November 13. 2023. Comm. Bergen said a question was asked at last meeting regarding fencing off an area for piping plovers. He has looked into the matter and the Audubon Society is permitted to erect fencing around the nesting area of the piping plovers. Fencing is now down. Attorney Hulse stated at last meeting an inquiry was made regarding changing the number of commissioners. She has researched the matter and it would need a change in the park district's bylaws. It will be addressed next year. Comm. Bergen remarked that the new swing seats arrived today. Meeting adjourned at 6:14 P.M.
