SCTM# 1000-70-1-8 Owner: Todd Vunderink and Susan Meigs RESOLUTION: WHEREAS, 50605 Main Road, Southold,NY, is on the Town of Southold Registry of Historic Landmarks; and WHEREAS, as set forth in Section 56-7 (b) of the Town Law(Landmarks Preservation Code) of the Town of Southold, all proposals for material change/alteration must be reviewed and granted a Certificate of Appropriateness by the Southold Town Historic Preservation Commission prior to the issuance of a Building Permit; and, WHEREAS, on July 7, 2023, the applicants submitted a proposal to install a fence surrounding single family dwelling upon residential property listed on the Town of Southold Registry of Historic Landmarks; and WHEREAS, the applicant came before the Commission on September 28, 2023, at a public hearing in order to review the proposed installation of a cedar fence surrounding a single family dwelling upon the subject property; and WHEREAS, in a letter dated September 25, 2023 as Exhibit A, the applicants described the six (6) foot high tongue and grove unpainted cedar wood fence as; 1) 32 foot section facing Main Road with diamond pattern decorative topper; 2) simple gate replace current gate; 3) side fencing will be six (6) feet framed cedar, running 43 feet; and WHEREAS, the applicant submitted a copy of a survey depicting hand drawn descriptions received September 25, 2023 as Exhibit B, initialed by the applicant, Todd Vunderink, indicating six (6) feet high fence unpainted cedar wood depicted in an Eastern Wood Fence brochure; 1) #300, T & G base with lattice topper for 32 feet section facing the street; 2) #300 framed T & G for 43 feet fence alongside neighbors' property; and Certificate of Appropriateness#09.28.2023.2 HPC,Vunderink/Meigs,50605 Main Road, Southold, SCTM No. 1000-70-1-8 WHEREAS, the applicant also submitted a brochure depicting the fence models and descriptions as indicated above as Exhibit C; and WHEREAS, the applicant shall submit to the Commissioners photographs of the finished improvements upon completion; and WHEREAS, the Commissioners may conduct a site inspection of subject premises once improvements are completed; and, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,that the Southold Town Historic Preservation Commission determines the proposed improvements described in a letter dated September 26, 2023 as Exhibit A, and a survey depicting hand drawn descriptions received September 25, 2023 as Exhibit B, initialed by the applicant, Todd Vunderink, indicating six (6) feet high unpainted cedar wood fence as depicted in an Eastern Wood Fence brochure; A) #300, T& G base with lattice topper for 32 feet section facing the street; B) #300 framed T& G for 43 feet fence alongside neighbors' property, meets the criteria for approval under Section 170-8(A) of the Southold Town Code; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the proposed gate shall match the replacement fence with the same materials, and that the finished side of the gate shall face the street, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the Commission approves the request for a Certificate of Appropriateness, subject to approvals by all involved agencies; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that any deviation from the approved plans referenced above may require further review from the commission. As pictured in the brochure we submitted,we are installing a 6-foot tongue-and-groove cedar fence made by Eastern Wood Fence Co.The local supplier is North Fork Fence in Mattituck.The 32-foot section facing Main Road will have a diamond pattern decorative topper.A simple gate will replace the current gate,close to the house. The side fencing, next to our neighbors Chris and Andrea Pickerell,will be 6-foot framed cedar,running for 43 feet. I look forward to the hearing on Thursday.
