ABTF Minutes—Monday August 21 2023 Spm Meeting

ABTF Meeting held in person at Southold Town Hall, and on Zoom. yin
Present- Emily Geiger, Michael Domino, Sylvia Daley, Eleanor Lingo, Ci r—Sr� , Val Shelby,

Zoom—David Schultz, Carolyn Peabody. Guests: Suzanne Lipson
Absent: Daniella Menjivar, Cindy Smith, Emily Puccio, Brian Meal@y,Jean LePre
1. Meeting called to order. Approval of Minutes by Mike and Sandy after corrections were
made, including names of members attending or absent from the July 1711 meeting
noted: — Present—Carolyn Peabody and Laura Held. Guest Tracey Maloney Domino.
Absent Jean LePre out sick.
2. Fishers Island Report. Sandra liaised with Fishers Island school principal. Members
discussed having an online program for the students.
3. ABTF Annual Picnic. The picnic was well organized and a success. Extra praise was
given to Mike and Valerie and the ABTF volunteers who served. About 200 people
attended (double last year). Discussion about purchasing own popcorn and cotton
candy machine, instead of renting, also purchasing tent(s). Pastor David Menjivar
donated the ice cream for the picnic.
4. The Helen Prince Event will be held at Peconic Landing in Greenport at 6pm on
Thursday, October 5th- Leroy made a report on its progress. A discussion followed
regarding a meeting or emailed info to decide/vote which candidate will be awarded.
Names nominated for the award include,Jordon Booker, Kathy Demarado, Rafael
Morais, Coach Allan Edwards, Kimberly Garcia. Ballots to be sent to both co-chairs of
ABTF.
s. Supervisor Scott Russel Remarks. Scott reiterated that the ABTF cannot request
donations or give scholarships. Mike noted that ABTF cannot fund raise, nor have a
separate bank account. Scott informed the members that Southold Town now has a
dedicated phone line direct to the ABTF. If there is an issue, it will be reviewed by the
ABTF and brought to the Town's attention. A motion was made to table for later a
meeting�with the ABTF co-chairs and the Town attorney to discuss scholarships and
accepting funds.
