TOWN OF SOUTHOLD
Minutes of August 28, 2023 meeting
• Meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm by John Slattery
• Present were: Chris North, Jack Slattery, Michael Regan, Tom MacLeod
• Absent(un-excused) William Ryan, Jim Abbott
• Also attending: Kevin Foote
• Minutes of July 31, 2023 meeting were approved
• Old Business
o Mike Regan provided an overview of his attendance at the Fisher's Island
town board meeting
o Chair announced selection of Jim Abbott and Tom MacLeod to join Chief
Flatley and Michael Collins in the planning and execution of new court
and police building
• New Business
o Mike Regan requested that we invite Don Fisher to our next meeting so
that we can better understand communications (cell and uhf) dead spots
that exist in Southold Hamlet. Don has confirmed that he will attend our
Sept. 25h meeting.
o Tom MacLeod suggested, and attendees agreed, that we discuss, in the
future, the feasibility of deploying trained social service personnel instead
of or in addition to police officers in some situations. In response to
Tom's suggestion and any future discussion of this subject, I suggest that
each member read the attached pages from the TOWN OF SOUTHOLD
REFORM AND REINVENTION COLLABORATIVE PLAN dated
3/31/3021.
