1. Called to order 10:08
2. Minutes approved.
3. Rational speed limits: Dan's list of town street speed limits should be complete and mapped.
Should there be many different changes to be noticed and have hearings on or should the entire
town except#25 and #48 have 30 MPH? Dan still finalizing the chart prior to giving to John
Sept for a map. Randy will email Dan NYSDOT area speed limit guidance.
4. Soundview Motel: Waiting on response from SCDPW on the lights proposed for the crosswalks.
Heather has not reported any movement here.
5. Charging Stations. After the meeting we saw that the electric charger behind Town Hall was
unused and only marked for one car even though it can charge two vehicles. If little used, one spot
might be enough. Mary Bess said the code needs to be updated to specify how long a car can be
parked at a charger and will bring what she knows about Greenport's stations to the Feb meeting.
Next steps were for Sarah to follow up with Denis about grants and talk to Michael Collins and Tim
at DPW. Sarah unable to attend and report.
6. Trash issue– Follow up on last week's ideas for Public Service Announcements, Public Cleanups,
Adopt-a-road program, Suffolk Times public service announcement for awareness, or? Maybe
social media can inspire volunteers like the one on Next Door. [Randy talked to Denis after mtg.
about running 1/2 page public service notice. Denis working with Sarah on it.]. Sarah unable to
attend and report. It was suggested that Mattituck-Laurel Civic be a model and that even if
there was no administration of a program—signs of adopters might encourage more
participation. The County does 48, SDOT does 25, the Town does major cross streets like
Bay Av, Cox, Eugene, Chapel,Albertson, etc. The other streets need help.
7. Transportation Funding Needs—Margaret and Randy to meet after this meeting and report in
March.
8. Parking signs for Peconic Bay Blvd in front of Vets Memorial. Also, signs for Breakwater Parking. -
Chris S. Dan to investigate and work with Chris on a resolution for Veterans Beach Park and
will also look at the Breakwater issue.
9. Bike racks. Sarah unable to attend and report.
10. Question about the County traffic task force and Sarah will reach out to Jonathon Keyes. Dan saw
traffic count machines at the same spots a couple of weeks ago—so we might get off-peak data.
Sarah unable to attend and report.
11. Community Housing Plan - No time to discuss, ended meeting for arraignment.
12. New business -
1. Oysterponds School wants a crosswalk on Youngs where a new driveway entry has
opened up. Everyone will look before March meeting.
2. Wickham and Pick's diagonal crosswalk—Dan looking to add sigs.
