Rubber Humps
3. Rational speed limits: Dan reported that the state has not found records for streets the town has
not yet found. He is digging in to find the missing records. Randy brought up the difference
between submitting the request form to change a street speed that requires a traffic study and a
request for an area or town—wide speed limit that does not require a traffic study or individual
street names. The State DOT guidance recommends 30 MPH, at least it did prior to the new
legislation that allows 25 MPH. Dan will share his spreadsheet that shows speed limits on most
town streets to influence whether TC will recommend 30 MPH, except for the two through streets of
#25 and #48, to the TB. Concern was expressed about lowering to 25 MPH. Dan asked why we
were considering this and Sarah explained that we often get individual requests to lower speeds
from 35 MPH and we wanted to approach systematically rather than piecemeal as previously. The
latest request awaiting resolution on the question is Ole Jule Lane: Request to lower speed limit
from 35 to 25.
4. Soundview Motel: Waiting on response from SCDPW on the lights proposed for the crosswalks.
5. Captain Kidd Drive street name sign.
6. Charging Stations. Recommend to Town Board they do an RFP on town-owned property for
charging stations. ID the parking lots, and see what gets proposed. Maybe % of the size of the lot.
Motion to recommend to the Town Board was approved. Sarah?
7. Trash issue–there is a lot of trash in the roadway vegetation (noticed by cyclists). Talk more about
littering and "adopt a street" program to clean up trash. Some civics are engaged. Charlie Peck
