1. Minutes accepted as written.
2. Rational speed limits: Dan's list of town street speed limits should be complete and mapped.
Should there be many different changes to be noticed and have hearings on or should the entire
town except#25 and #48 have 30 MPH? Dan please email photos of the map and the chart on
speed limits on each street. We will see if anyone has any problem with Sarah presenting to
the Town Board working meeting. Charlie Peck commented that we have been discussing
this since he joined a year ago and it should be a simple yes to try it for safety. Those
present were unclear why anyone would have concerns but we do want to hear them.
3. Sou ndview Motel: Last week Heather said the County gave the owners the specifications for
street lighting so they can submit a plan to light the dark crosswalks. It is in their court.
4. Charging Stations. Mary Bess said that the two in the Village do not make much money and
that code is needed for them along with a fee schedule. We are unclear what Southold's
stations at Town Hall and Peconic Center charge, if anything. Margaret explained that the
issues are complex, when they are more prevalent it will become an equity issue. How are
they funded? Is advertising part of it? Randy mentioned that the sample RFPs she
distributed were pretty involved and not sure who might take charge. Next steps Chris will
email Randy an E2 exec who might give us technical information. Good to find someone
who can speak to battery safety also. Sarah mentioned a Downtown Revitalization grant,
https://www.suffolkcountynny.gov/Departments/Economic-Development-and-Planning/Transit-
Oriented-and-Downtown-Develop ment/Downtown-Revitalization the deadline is mid-May. Sarah
suggested coming up with a town-wide plan for where they could be located so we can be
ready to apply for grants and that we should bring in Tim Abrams and Michael Collins when
locations have been picked. There are 2 open grants in Southold: Silversmith Corner Park
to Improve Lighting and Sidewalk Improvement, 2019,Applicant: North Fork Chamber of
Commerce Grant Funds: $39,590, Leveraged Funds: $50,000 & Redesign and Rebuild of the
Raymond Dean Municipal Parking Lot to Add 30 Additional Parking Spaces, 2018,Applicant:
Mattituck-Laurel Civic Association, Partner Southold, Grant Funds: $56,300, Leveraged
Funds: $50,000. Other grant possibilities are a walkway from Vineyard View and bike racks,
5. Trash issue– Follow up on January's ideas for Public Service Announcements Suffolk Times
(Sarah),Adopt-a-road program—would signs alone encourage groups to adopt certain streets?
The County does #48, SDOT does #25, the Town does major cross streets like Bay Av, Cox,
Eugene, Chapel,Albertson, etc. The other streets need help. Randy started a draft for the
Suffolk Times paid ad. Sarah wanted more content. Charlie will gather specifics on group
efforts. Earth Day coming up 4122 so must be sent to Dennis as a draft before the next
meeting. Who should be the email contact to request garbage bag pick up? Can it be made
even easier?
6. Transportation Funding Needs—Margaret wants to dig in deeper at the next meeting when
more people are available. She is interested in adding more items from the Master Plan to
the budget Randy drafted then narrowing it down to a few priorities.
7. Parking signs for Peconic Bay Blvd in front of Vets Memorial. Also, signs for Breakwater Parking
request by Chris S. Chris will meet with Dan for Vets Memorial and Sarah will ask attorney
about any existing regulations at Breakwater.
8. Oysterponds School wants a crosswalk on Youngs where a new driveway entry has opened up.
Most agreed a crosswalk not appropriate but awaiting Dan's opinion on signage.
9. Wickham and Pike's diagonal crosswalk—Dan signs?
10. Crash last week—issue of electric fires. Cutchogue library forum was canceled for snow,
moratorium passed. Be on look out for expert who could speak to us.
11. Question about the County traffic task force and Sarah will reach out to Jonathon Keyes. Dan
saw traffic count machines at the same spots a couple of weeks ago—so we might get off-peak
data. Sarah
12. Community Housing Plan - Should the group make a comment that enough attention is not
being paid to Smart Growth principals as the legislation requires? This would locate new
housing near transit stops in walkable areas. To discuss next week. Draft plan below,
meetings Weds at 11:30 on zoom.

13. New business
A. The budget is worked on June, July,August for October.
B. Good news from New York State DOT, they are adding bike Sharrow markings on
certain sections of#25 with parking. Heather asked for a longer segment that she
knows has parking also. They cannot put bike symbols on the shoulder because
without other walkways people are allowed to walk in them. We are still waiting for
State DOT to join us at a meeting and discuss their thoughts on signs.
14. Adjourned 11:50AM.
15. Next Meeting will be Monday,April 17 at 10:30 AM
