The foundation system was designed by myself and Emanual Necula, PE, a structural engineer. It was a system designed to include both existing loads on the present locust posts, and a distribution of new and addi- tional loads onto new foundation walls and piers. The existing locust posts which remain were intended to be used, show no loss of structural integrity, and will carry no more load (most cases less) than they did previously. In addition, the contractor has provided for some extra concrete piers for reinforcement of some posts. '4 Please call me if you have any questions regarding this matter. He said that we would need to build at elevation 8 or above if we are over 50g added value. However, the Town would be within its rights to grant a variance for a lower elevation if it felt inclined to do so. Areas such as porches, garages, breezeways, etc that are not habitable areas need not be set at Elevation 8. It was recommended, but not stipulated, that any electrical devices in those areas be set at Elev. 8 or higher. k I retained the services of Mr.John Metzger of Peconic Surveyors, to obtain the elevation of existing first floor level. His finding, in U5GD is Elevation<':8I1, which meets the FEMA regulation.
