(There were no Zoom Attendees). Discussion Items: The plaque for Anne Trimble has now been created. We will take the cost for same out of the memorial donations which we had received on behalf of Anne. We plan on planting a tree in the Fall possibly at Down's Farm in Cutchogue. Assistant Town Attorney Julie McGivney attended our meeting to review and have comment and discussion on the proposed Tree Code. Comments and ideas were presented to Ms.McGivney who will now prepare a second draft of the Code with the hopes of the draft being completed in time for our September meeting for another review/discussion with an eye toward possibly presenting same to Town Board in October. Ms. McGivney explained to the meeting attendees that it is up to Town Board to make public the actual proposed Code in a public session when they are ready. We reviewed Tim Abrams request to have trees planted (preferably shade trees) at Tasker Park (Carroll Avenue)to replace the trees that had been cut down. Gerard reported on his recent trip to Fishers Island for the August Town Board meeting. Gerard reported that we have requested a proposed Budget to match that which we received for last year. Jill reported on the Budget approval process. Approval does not happen until the beginning of November. Jay and Gerard will look into the letter which was sent to us by Miranda Dempster. Gerard and Dave have started putting together their Fall planting locations utilizing the maps which Gerard had made outlining specific territories for members. Attendee Margaret Steinbugler wondered if our committee would be agreeable to the possible donation/planting of shrubs on the Town owned property near the Custer Institute as the car headlights at night interfere with the viewing of the telescope. Jill explained that this would not normally be something the Committee would get involved with, but that she would look toward CPF. 9 /3 23 y Dan discussed and asked for our thoughts on replacing what has been taken down at Love Lane leaning toward some type of above ground planters possibly made of concrete. Jill reported that the Peconic Land Trust is hoping to plant at Laurel Lake with some type of native tree that will have good survivability. We will next meet on September 13, 2023. This meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Diane DiSalvo RECEIVED S E P 1 4 2023 Southold Town Clerk
