The second set of plans was submitted by Kathleen Reiter Milne (daughter) on July 20, 1992, B.P.#208432 and was handled as a new and completely different application. The amount of the fee $408.50. Section 45-11 (B) state in part, if application is denied 50% of fee would be retained by locale. If work commenced than the town would keep the whole fee. When I questioned the tax assessor's office about reduced taxes, they had no record of the fire from the building department until after 1 June 1991, All of this is a mystery to me. The architectural offices of SamuelSand Steelman located in Cutchogue are in the process of obtaining permits to re-build. To date, they have received one (1) permit. If your office is so anxious to have us build and demolish the existing structure, perhaps you would be good enough to exert your influence in obtaining the necessary permits. I am sure that Tom Samuels would be happy if you intervened and obtained the permits "yesterday". Without the new building permits, we cannot demolish the existing structure be- cause without the permits, we might have to build on the existing foun- dation. I agree with you that the building is unsafe, especially for trespassers, but even more, it is unsightly. Tax Map #1000-107-09-04 Dear Ms. Reiter: A letter was sent to Mrs. Henry Reiter on February 21, 1991 advising her that due to a fire on February 1, 1991 the dwelling at 3875 Wickham Avenue, Mattituck, N.Y. was declared unsafe by the Town of Southold. It has been almost a year and nothing has been done to remove or repair the building. According to the Code of the Town of Southold Chapter 90-3 A (enclosed) "all such buildings are illegal and prohibited and should be repaired or removed." In order to avoid possible legal action by the Town of Southold you must contact the undersigned at the Southold Town Building Department IMMEDIATELY and obtain the necessary permits before work is started.
