Interpreting the performance of the house relative to the State Energy Code is difficult since the only expansion of the building envelope is the raising of the center portion of the roof to create a skylit monitor. Below are calculations indicating that we plan to significantly improve the energy efficiency of this part of the house. The original construction was uninsulated and to remedy that we are insulating all exposed walls and roofs affected by construction. We are also replacing all the windows in this part of the house with new double glazed sash. This represents and improvement of about 780% in thermal performance for this portion of the house.
