This application must be filled in by typewriter OR ink and submitted to the building
inspector with the following: for new building or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines,
streets, and unusual natural or topographic features.
2. Final Approval from Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage-disposal(S-9 form).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Sworn statement from plumber certifying that the solder used in system contains
less than 2/10 of 1% lead.
5. Commercial building, industrial building, multiple residences and similar buildings
and installations, a certificate of Code Compliance from architect or engineer
responsible for the building.
6. Submit Planning Board Approval of completed site plan requirements.
For existing buildings (prior to April 9, 1957) non-conforming uses, or buildings and
"pre-existing" land uses:
1. Accurate survey of property showing all property lines, streets, building and
unusual natural or topographic features.
2. A properly completed application and a consent to inspect signed by the applicant.
If a Certificate of Occupancy is denied, the Building Inspector shall state the
reasons therefor in writing to the applicant.

Thank you for the notice mailed to and received at my
permanent residence in Ft. Lauderdale.
I believe, the permit in question was issued for a
prefabricated shed (in the shape of a barn) made and
installed by North Fork Wood Designs on the North Road.
I had the impression that a certificate of occupancy was
issued. I recall having paid something like $35.00 for it.
As I am not now in Southold, I have no way to verify or take
the required action to correct whatever discrepancy exists
at this moment.
Is it possible to clear this up by mail or, can it wait
until the Sprin~ when the snow has melted and we "snowbirds"
floc~ack ~e North Fork?

Dear Mr. Birman:
We are writing in response to your letter of January 15,
1996 pertaining to building permit #21697-Z; located at 260
Sunset Way, $outhold NY. No, Certificate of Occupancy was ever
issued for this permit. The ~k35.00 you mentioned in your letter
was for the building permit application which is separate from
the CO application and fee ($25.00).
If your building permit is completed as applied for, your
next course of action would be to request from us a final
inspection. No one is required to be there since your permit is
for an accessory shed and can be inspected from the outside.
Otherwise, if you are not finished, you are required to
take out a new building permit.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.

until a Certificate of Occupancy has been issued.
Please co~tact this office as soon as possible so that we
may clear up this matter.

received today.
I am enclosing the completed building permit application and
the $25.00 CO application fee that you requested.
We hereby request that you do the final inspection as soon
as possible. According to your letter of January 23rd, no
one is required to be there and the accessory shed can be
inspected from the outside.
