Box 1179 Southold,NY 11971 Dear Transportation Committee: We are writing to you on behalf of ourselves and our fellow residents on Youngs Avenue to request that Youngs Avenue from Main Street to Route 48 be classified as a"No Parking"road (A portion of Youngs Ave starting at Main St. is already designated as a No Parking road). Many of us have noticed that since the opening of the new gas station and convenience store(on the corner of Route 48 and Youngs Ave)the volume of traffic has increased dramatically up and down this section of roadway. Additionally, the cars often speed and do not obey the speed limit. This has created a dangerous situation for residents backing out of their driveways. Adding to this problem is a recently adopted bylaw of Founders'Village requiring residents who have pickup trucks to not park inside of the complex but on the street. Nearly everyday there are a couple of large vehicles parked day and night on Youngs Avenue. We have reported this unsafe condition to the Southold Police Dept. who has come out on two occasions and have agreed with us that this situation on Youngs Avenue (increased speeding traffic and parked large vehicles)has created a safety concern. The last officer to respond said he would bring up the issue at a town hall meeting and while we don't know if it is already being addressed, we wanted to add our concerns and call upon the Transportation Committee to help us restore safety to our beautiful roadway. One last note is that these parked vehicles are killing the grass and not helping the new trees that the Town planted last year to thrive. We very much appreciate your efforts to help us. Thank you. Cordially, Patricia F. Coyle Michael A. Coyle/
