The Southold Town Board met at the office of 6he Supervisor at Greenport,
New York on Tuesday; Sept', 12, 1961. The meeting was called to order at
3:00 P.M. with the following present: Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen
Demarest and Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill~ and~ Clark; Supt. of ~ighways
Priee and Town Clerk Richmond.
Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Councilman Grathwohl;
RESOLVED: That the minutes of Aug~t~-29, 1961be and they hereby~are
duly approved_as read.
Vote of Town ~oard: Ayes%, Supergisor Albertson; Councilmen Demarest and
Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by~ Councilman Demarest;
RESOLVED: That the next regular monthly meeting of this Town Board will
be held at the office of the Supervisor, Lester M. Albertson, at 16 Sguth
Street, Greenport, N.Y. on Tuesday, September 26, 1961. at 3:00 P.M.

Grathwoht;~Justices Tuthill and Clark.

RESOLVED: That the Town Clekk be and he hereby is directed to request
the Long Island Lighting Company to remove one (1) t00 cp aerial street -
light and install one (1) Mercury Vapor aerial street light on pole %3-J
N.Y~. in front of the'Police Station, Peconic Lane, Peconic, N.Y. in. the
Peconic Light District.

RESOLVED: That %he Town Clerk be and he hereby is ~irected to request the
Greenport Lighting Company to install one 100 cp street light onPole
% 4 on Brown Street, Greenport, N.Y.

RESOLVED: That the report of Howard M. Terry, Building Inspector, for
the month of August be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file.

Moved by Councilman Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark;
RESOLVED: That G~neral Bills in the amount of $6006.65; Lighting District
Bills in the amount of $2,539.72; Fishers Island Ferry District Bills in
the amount of $15,644.76 be and the s~me are hereby ordered paid.

RESOLVED: That the report of Supervisor Lester M. Albertson, fo~ the months
ending August 31, 1961, be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file.

RESOLVED: That the report of Albert W. Richmond, Town Clerk, for the
month of August 1961 be accepted by the Town Bo~ard and placed on file.

RESOLVED: That the Police report for the month of August be accepted by
the Town Board and placed on file.

RESOLVED: That the report of the AuxiIiary Police for the month of
August be accepted by the Town Board and placed on. file.

RESOLVED: That the report of Ralph P. Cox, Dog Warden, for the month of
August be accepted by the Town Board and placed on file.

WHEREAS, a petition was received from William and Regina Victoria request-
ing a change of zone of certa&n property .situated in Bay View, Southold,
and more fully described in said petitiQn from "A" Residential and
Agricultural District to "M" Multiple R sidence District,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That th~ Town Clerk of'the TOwn 6f
Southold be a~he is hereby directed to transmit aaid petition to the
.Planning Board in accordance with Section 90~, Article IX of the Building
Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold, Suffolk county, New York, if the
legality of the application is approved by the Town AttDrney.

WHEREAS, Ruth. F. Preston, Ida Belle Latham and Robert L. Muir have requested
the Town.,of Southold to take over a certain'road near the Village of
Greenport~n the Town of Southold, known as Gull Pond Lane and more fully
described\-in said ~pplication,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the application be turned over to
the Southold Town Planning oard for their official recommendation and
report.
Vote of Town board: Ayes-Supervisor Albertson; Councilmen Dema<est and
Grathwohl; Justices Tuthill and Clark.
Supervisor Albertson reported that he had conferred with James~Reed of~
Cedar Beach on certain property the Town might bei interested in purchasing'.
A letter was received from Selma Reeve advising the Board that she would
take necessary steps to. relieve a hazard that presently exists on her
property in Mattituck.
A letter was received from Senator Barrett advising the Supervisor that
he had been in contact with Lloyd Maeder of the State Traffic Commission
and that Mr. Maeder reported the field work concerning the installation
of a traffic light at the intersection of Youngs Ave. and Route .25 will
be completed by Sept. 16.
Mr. Joseph Schneider, a property owner of Orient, appeared befor~ the
Board in regard to the operation of a fishing stationi in that .area. The
Supervisor explained that there w~e zoning regulations to cover this
type of business.
The Board reports that the feeling of the residents .in the area ~0uld
be taken in regard to town boat ramps. ' '

RESOLVED: Tha~ Fred Marcell of Southold, N.Y. be and he h~ere~y is "
appointed Special Traffic Officer (Constable) tO .direct traffi~ at the
Southold School crossing, corner of Oaklawn Avenue and R0~%~5, at a.
salary of $1.75 per hour fDr each day work..e_~.,., effectiveS.as of Sept. 6,
1961, he to serve at the pleasure of the ~he~ ~o~n Board." .
