Dear Mr. Miller:
This letter is a follow up to your letter along with photograph of June 9, 2023. The
Board of Trustees reviewed your request to remove the'large dead Sassafras tree
located in the rear yard that is problematic and within 100' of the wetlands, as reviewed
and seen by Trustee Elizabeth Peeples.
The Board of Trustees determined that this tree may be removed at this time, down to
the stump only as the remaining roots will stabilize the bank and prevent erosion. No
permit will be required in order to remove this tree.
Any other activity within 100' of the wetland boundary requires a permit from this office.
This is not a determination from any other agency.

Southold town trusties a permit to remove the pictured tree. I
would like the town trusties to look at the tree and issue a permit to remove to a low stump.A low stump will help
prevent any erosion.
