Permit number: 10446 To the Board of Trustees, We would like to request permission to make an alteration to the concrete wall that is on property. The top of the wall has an extension of brick as a fall prevention. We would like to remove the brick from the wall and install glass panel. The wall is 50 linear feet.We will not be altering the integrity of the concrete wall in anyway. We have met with a contractor who only installs glass fences and he found the wall to be able to support this installation of the glass panels. Katie and Jonathan(homeowner) might want to refinish the front of the concrete wall with a veneer or stucco—if permittable please include it in the scope of amendment to our permit. Katie and Jonathan would also like to change the location of the fence to just be around the pool area rather than down by the bluff. We have attached the survey and highlighted the areas mentioned above. Please let us know if you need anything else or have any questions while considering our request. Thank you very much. No. 50467/ Maim Diane From: Neil Kearns <nckearns@verizon.net> Sent: Wednesday,August 16, 2023 10:15 AM To: DiSalvo, Diane Cc: Lori Kearns Subject: [SPAM] - Re: 17975 Soundview Ave., Southold -4' Relief Request My name is Neil Kearns and I live at 18075 Soundview Ave., Southold. My property abuts(to the east) 17975 Soundview Ave. I've learned that my neighbor is interested in infringing on the 100 feet of"protected" land in front of the bluff, for the purpose of extending a pool patio. I don't think the impact of global warming is lost on anyone present at this meeting,. Simply walk the beach and you see the erosion that is occurring on a consistent basis. What might be 100 feet from the bluff today, will likely be a lot less than that in the coming years. The property leading up to the bluff is incredibly important in helping sustain sufficient protection against future storms and weather patterns. Any construction within 100 feet of the bluff only undermines that protection. In addition, my neighbor's property has a very high retaining wall just north of the pool area. It is logical to conclude that the installation of the pool will put incremental stress on that wall. Allowing additional construction and weigh, in the form of an extended patio, could potentially have catastrophic consequences. If that retaining wall was to fail, it wouldn't just impact my neighbor's property, but very likely mine as well, given the close proximity. In addition, when one reviews the pool proposal, one can see that there is ample patio space to the east, west and south of the pool. My pool has zero patio area to the north and that's simply a consequence of ensuring I was not impacting on the required 100 feet of what should be strongly protected land leading up to the bluff. I appreciate why that restriction is in place and was quite content to abide by it. We have the luxury of living on the bluff, enjoying the amazing views across the sound, but we should all be stewards of strong environmental regulations to ensure we are collectively protecting the land we claim to value so much. I'm confident the Southold Town Board of Trustees will continue to prioritize environmental protection over what I would describe as the unnecessary "overbuild" desires of some residents. I understand that updating the survey will take time however hopefully it will be completed in enough time. I would say the latest the Board would need updated surveys (certified/stamped originals, not printed out copies) would be by Friday,August 11th. The Board can use what we have in the file now for field inspections but they would need the correct proposed for their work session which is on August 14tH Regarding Glenn, he has been on vacation. He only just got back so depending on when you emailed him he may only just be reading your email(s). When you can drop off one set of the pictures for the file. I am not sure what you are saying in your sixth sentence, why wasn't something necessary? If you are talking about the buffer, it was on the project plans back then. It is not uncommon that the Board does not require you put buffers on survey's unless your survey is the plan, like in your case. It is preferred to be on a survey. I have seen the Board require it be added to a survey. 1 The other reason I am asking for the buffer to be added to the survey is to show there is already one a buffer on the property. The Board will require one if none exist and the survey currently does not depict the existing. I will review this application again in the morning and if it can go onto August's agenda with the hopes of getting the updated surveys I will let you know. Again, if the owner wants to apply to rebuild the fire pit down the road they are welcome to come in to apply to do so. 5*kd/ eagPWR Senior Office Assistant Town of Southold Board of Trustees Office: 631-765-1892 Email: elizabethc@southoldtownny.g From:Jennifer Del Vaglio<ci@eastendpoolking.com> Sent:Wednesday, August 2, 2023 1:35 PM To:Cantrell, Elizabeth<elizabethc@town.southold.ny.us> Cc: 'Sharon McHugh' <office @eastend poolking.com>; 'Kim Sperling' <kim@eastendpoolking.com> Subject: RE:Vigdorchik;SCTM#1000-51-1-7 application Hi Elizabeth—I have nathan corwin working on the changes to the survey. This would be new/proposed or is an as-built (currently there)which would have to be dealt with during the public hearing. If you 2 want to add it to the meeting,we would need the length by height of proposed retaining walls and size of fire pit area, and materials of each for the application as well as sizes added to the survey.
