This will entail the following: - Existing awning hardware will be removed from one of the 40"wide x 48" high awning windows in each of the rooms. - Hinge hardware and sash locks from a casement-style window will be used in retro-fitting each window unit. -The new hardware will allow a person to unlock the sash and simply push the window open. - Please note that we do not intend to use the casement crank and extension arm in retro-fitting the two windows. The windows will only be used for an emergency egress situation -otherwise it will remain closed. - Each of the two windows modified for emergency egress will be properly signed, identifying it as an emergency egress window. The above proposed modification for the window in each room, would assure that emergency egress will conform to New York State Building Code, Part 714.
