Laurel , New York Engineering Survey Gentlemen; As requested, please find this professional engineer ' s report with regard to the Mechanical systems and Insulation findings of the above mentioned property, all based on this writers physical examination of September 25, 1997. The weather was warm and sunny. The content of this report is based on an engineering study and in no way should it be considered otherwise as to it ' s character or represen- tation. MECHANICAL SYSTEMS (BASEMENT) a. All water supplied to the property is from a well located near the barn at the rear of the house. In the basement, a Wagner well pump which is in good working order pumps water thru an expansion tank and filter unit manufactured by the Amtrol Co. These units are of good manufacture and are in excellent condition and provide very good water pressure throughout the home and to the underground sprinkler system. This water tastes good and has no objectionable odor however I strongly suggest that you have a county approved agency test the water since the test I conducted is very basic and shoul therefore be con- sidered accordingly. b. Hot water is produced in a gas fired Rheem 50 gallon unit heater which is approximately 5 years of age and works properly. C. House heating is provided by an oil fired forced air system con- sisting of a model "A" Beckett oil burner which manufactures the hot air, a rectangular galvanized mixing chamber with fan and round electro-gal- vanized duct system which supplies supply and return air throughout the home thru floor registers . This type of system provides quick heat, is reasonably efficiept and is inexpensive to operate . #2 grade oil is stored in a steel tank with line filter and a capacity of 275 gallons . This tank is properly installed and the distance from the burner is more than required to properly meet the code and for general safety. t 6300 Peconic Bay Blvd . Engineering survey October 13, 1997 ( PAGE 2 ) INSULATION All insulation is composed of fiberglass batts with one foil face used as a vapor barrier. Roof insulation has been placed on the ceilings, is six inches thick and has an R19 rating. Wall insulation is also of the same materials but I was unable to determine size or rating without destroying parts of the interior walls which I could not legally accomplish under the circumstances . CONCLUSIONS I can say without hesitation that the mechanical systems as noted above and the roof insulation are of excellent quality, have been properly installed in accordance with the best standards of the trades involved and conform to the New York State Energy code of January 1979 .
