Dear Mr. Goldsmith:
We represent Southold Shores Boat Basin,Inc.,the owner of underwater land at the end of Blue Marlin
Drive, where exists a community dock facility with a history of regulatory approvals dating back to
1989, including Southold Wetlands Permit No. 7484, issued in 2011.
Almost 2 years ago,the Board met with the corporation's president,Ernest Jochen,to discuss proposed
dredging around the dock facility,as the surrounding water depths have become increasingly shallower
during the past decade,resulting in some slips becoming unusable or nearly so. At that time,the Board
indicated that a significant consideration would be the area designated for spoil deposition.
The corporation has since commissioned a survey of the boat basin and the adjacent beach, which is
separately owned by the Southold Shores Association, Inc.,who has expressed a willingness to accept
the dredged spoil. Before we prepare plans and applications for formal submission to all involved
agencies, however, we would like to have a pre-submission meeting with the current Board to review
the proposed spoil area and machinery access route.
To that end, the spoil area has been lathed out in the field for inspection, as indicated on the attached
partial survey, which has been marked up to show the locations of the stakes. Also enclosed is a
complete copy of the boat basin and beach; a check for $150; "Board of Trustees Application"
affidavit and agent authorization forms executed by Southold Shores Boat Basin Inc.; and a letter
from the Southold Shores Association Inc. president, Denis Cole, granting Southold Shores Boat
Basin Inc. and the Trustees permission to physically access the Association-owned beach parcel.
