: APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
A· This application must be filled in by typewriter OR ink and submitted to the building
inspector with the following: for new building or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines,
streets, and unusual natural or topographic features.
2. Final Approval from Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage-disposal(S-9 form).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Sworn statement from plumber certifying that the solder used in system contains
less than 2/10 of 1% lead·
5. Commercial building, industrial building, multiple residences and similar buildings
and installations, a certificate of Code Compliance from architect or engineer
responsible for the building.
6. Submit Planning Board Approval of completed site plan requirements.
3. For existing buildings (prior to April 9, 1957) non-conforming uses, or buildings and

I. Accurate survey of property showing all property lines, streets, building and
unusual natural or topographic features.
2. A properly completed application and a consent to inspect signed by the applicant·

FINDINGS OF FACT
PROPERTY FACTS/DESCRIPTION:
The subject property is located on a private road which extends off
of East End Read, Fishers Island. The survey map submitted under
this application shows that the subject premises consists of 4.04
aeros. The premises is improved with a private one-family dwelling
and two private accessory buildings located in the front yard area
(ref. Certificate of Occupancy No. Z4861 dated October 17, 1972).
The subject of this application is one accessory building which
contains a bedroom area and a bathroom area only, with no kitchen
or cooking facilities whatsoever. The use has been for occasional
sleeping accommodations for family guests rolated to the main
dwelling, and not a separate use. No income has been derived
from this nonconforming accessory use.
BASIS OF APPEAL: Building Inspector's August 15, 1997 Action of
Disapproval which reads as follows:
VARIANCE RELIEF REQUESTED BY APPLICANT: The request made
by applicant is to replace the fiat roof with a pitched roof on this
accessory building, that will echo the arohitectural roof style of
the main house. The floor plan and occupancy of the accessory
building will continue for family or guest use for occasional
overnight stay and accessory storage purposes.
The applicant confirms there is no intent to convert this building to
a cottage or dwelling, and that the references to "cottage" on the
building permit application and notice of disapproval aro in
errer.

REASONS FOR BOARD ACTION~ DESCRIBED BELOW:

on the physical ori envirenmen~al c.onditions in the neighborhood or
district because the. roof line wdl be only slightly altered to
become more conforming to the architectural design of the pri~.c.i.pal
building on this parcel as the roof is repiaced on the preexisting
accessory building.
