No changes are to be made to the existing barn structure. The addition has an outside dimension of approximately 10' X 30'. It is a post structure with 4 X 6 CCA treated main support posts 3' in the ground. They rest on an 8" (1-80lb bag) of concrete gravel mix which is poured into the hole as a footing. Another 80lb bag of concrete gravel mix is then poured around the post as a foundation collar. The concrete gravel mix is not mixed with water prior to being poured but hardens and cures slowly from the moisture of th~e earth around it. Other. door~., J window and wall posts are 4 X 4 CCA treated pos~ the ground. Main support ~ m~ No rafters are 2 X 10's attached with 2-1/2" galvanized carriage bolts to the top of every main support post. Roof is a 4 pitch with 2 X 6 perlins hung 2' on center between and perpendicular to the main support rafters. Roof sheathing is 1/2" CDX plywood covered with tar paper and 25 year 3 tab shingles. Exterior walls are horizontal 2 X 4 girts 2' on center and are sided with 5/8" pine TI-11. Them is no overhang on the side to eliminate the need for sofit. There is a steel exterior entrance door in front with a knob keyed lockset and 4 storm windows placed high in the walls on the side and back. See floor plan for locations. Interior is not finished. There is no floor or entrance to the existing barn. Estimate time to complete is 2 weeks weather permitting. Estimated material cost is One Thousand Five Hundred dollars ($1,500) Labor cost is One Thousand dollars ($I,000) half to be paid after framing and the other half upon satisfactory completion. This does not include labor cost for roofer to shingle roof as I subcontract this and roofer will have to come look at roof to see how he will tie shingles into existing metal roof. Normal cost for roof shingling is $40 perl00 square feet.
