Southold N.Y. 11971 Re: Building Permit Application dated 1/13/99 Dear Mr. Wells, Please be advised that the structure applied for cannot receive a permit because it does not meet the minimum standards set by the New York State Fire Prevention and Building Code. Specifically, the foundation is required to have a footing that is below the frost line ( min 36 inches ) and must meet the standards to support the structure. We cannot issue a permit for any structure that does not meet State Code. Your options at this point are; 1. Construct a proper foundation. 2. Apply for a variance from the State. 3. Wells property at 3445 Southold, NY Fondation adequacy of sunporch Pine Neck Road A review of the foundation of the sun porch at the northeast corner of the residence of Herbert W. Wells at 3445 Pine Neck Road, Southold, New York indicates the following: The porch is built on an existing corcrete patio extending five feet or more beyond the limits of the sun porch exterior walls. The poured concrete foundati'on walls of the sun room are more that twelve inches high above the existing patio. The light construction of this one story structure will be easily supported by this foundation. The extension of the existing patio beyond the exterior walls of th e porch allows rain water to be dispersed far enough from the building so moisture will not be a factor due the porosity of the adjacent soils.
