An additional 464 sq. ft. was added to the original house which consisted of 743 sq. ft. and was basically a fishing and clam house that was built in the late 1930's. The replacement cost of the existing house with the 1990 addition and improvements when I purchased it in 1997 was approximately $170,000.00 or 1,207 sq. ft. x $140 per sq. ft. Final builder's cost of construction as per revised plans is approximately $80,000.00 not including driveway and landscaping work. The work has almost doubled the original estimated cost as stated in the building application due to the various interior designs, materials and cod -51 uirements.. Thomas E. At my last meeting at the house with Mr. Boufis, he suggested I modify the existing plan to reflect the few minor changes that were done, up date the Energy Code Letter and send these items to you, Mr. Boufis seems hesitant to grant a Complete Enclosure Approval because of the repair and replacement work that was done on the house. The footprint of the house remains the same and the square footage remains exactly the same as originally applied for. I have relocated all the existing heating, cooling and hot water to the second floor as noted on the original application. I would appreciate it if, at your convenience, you could call my office and I could drive out and meet you at your office or at my new house. I would prefer it if we could meet at the house so that you could visually see what was replaced in order to meet building codes and what was not.
