Minutes & Discussion Notes from Meeting held
Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.
This Regular Meeting was held in the Annex Executive Board Room, located on the 2nd floor at Southold Town
Hall Annex, 54375 Route 25 (Main Road), Southold, New York. Masks are required until further notice.
The public had access to view and listen to the meeting as it was happening via Zoom. If you do not have access
to a computer or smartphone, there is an option to listen in via telephone.
Comments from the public may not be solicited nor received without an appointment. It is expected that the
Committee will enter into Executive Session* at some point after opening the Regular Meeting for the purpose of
discussing applications regarding proposed acquisitions of real property where publicity would substantially
affect the value thereof. The public is not allowed to attend, view, or listen to Executive Session.

Commencement

• The meeting began at 7:09 p.m. with 6 LPC members present.
Committee Minutes and Administration
• Acceptance of LPC meeting minutes from April 4, 2023
MOTION made by Sam McCullough, seconded by Anne Murray, to accept the 4/4/2023 LPC meeting
minutes.

General Land Preservation
• Chapters 70 Amendments—Processing on Development Rights Sold Land
The Committee awaits the proposed amendments to Chapter 70, and specifically whether or not
landowners who sell development rights could designate an area for processing. The Committee
discussed several considerations for potential amendments, including the continued relevance of scenic
qualities and landowners' ability to subdivide potential designated processing areas from DRS parcels,
as well as effects including buildings, supervision, and impacts on residential areas.

The LPC members entered into EXECUTIVE SESSION at 7:32 p.m. Meeting locked.
o Lillian McCullough, Land Preservation Executive Assistant, gave updates on inquiries, new
applications, appraisals and current applications.
