Appeals was held 7':30 P.M., Thursday, November 3, 1960 at the Town Clerk Office, Main Road, Southold, New York. There were present: Messrs. Robert Bergen, Herbert' Rosenberg, Acting Chairman, and Charles Grigonis, Jr. Absent: Doyen, Jr. Messrs. Robert W. Gillispie, Jr., and Serge PUBLIC HEARING: 7':30 P%M., Appeal No. 323 - Upon appli- cation of Robert Ketcham, Jr., Bay Lake Park, East Marion, a/c Booth House, Sterling Avenue, Greenport, New York, for a special exception in accordance with the Zoning.Ordinance, Article III, Section 300, Subsection 11, for permission to erect :and maintain a directional sign on the propertyofAW. Fismer Estate, south side Main Road, Southold, New york, bounded north by M&in Road, .east by Meadow & Booth, south by Bay and west by Bay Home Avenue. SoutholdTown.Board of Appeals -2- No; ember .3, 1.960 The Acting Chairman opened the hearing by reading appli- cation for a special exception, legal notice of hearing and .affidavit attesting to its publication in the official newspaper. The letter of property owner was also read. tHE CHAIRMAN: Is there anyone present who wishes to speak for this application? (~There was no response.) THE CHAIRMAN: Is there anyone present who wishes to speak against this application? (There was no response,) THE CHAIRMAN: This sign. is to be the same size and wording as the one granted Mr. Ketcham, a/c the Booth HOuse on the Turner property at Ars~amomaque. The sign is less than 50 sq. ft. and he wishes to place it 10 ft. from the Main Road and 5 ft. from the propertY' line. Resolution was offered by Mr. Grigonis, seconded by Mr. Rosenberg, and carried, WHEREAS application of Robert Ketcham, Jr., a/c Booth House, having been considered at Public Hearing No. 323 on No~ ember 3, 1960, and the Board finding that the public convenience and welfare and justice will be ser~.ed and the legally established or'permitted use of. neighborhood property and adjacent use districts will not be substantially or permanently injured and the spirit of the Ordinance would be observed, there- fore be it RESOLVED that permission be granted Robert.Ketcham, Jr., a/c Booth House, Greenport, to erect and maintain a 6 ft. by 8 ft. direckional sign on the property of A. W. Fismer Estate, as requested. Lower edge of this sign-shall be no less than 3 ft. from the ground level and upper edge not more ~than 15 ft. 6 in. above the ground level. Sign to be located 10 ft. from. Route 25 and 5 ft. from the easterly end of the Fismer property. Wording on the sign to be:. "In Greenport, Booth House, On the Harbor, Restaurant, Hotel, Turn Rt. at Church, Rt. 25. This-sign is subject to the same regulations and controls which affect non-conforming signs. Vote of the Board: Ayes:- Mr. Rosenberg, Mr. Grigonis and Mr. Bergen. .Southold Town Board.of Appeals -3- November 3, 1960 On motion of Mr. Bergen, seconded by Mr. Grigonis, and carried, the Board of Appeals set 7:30 P.M. (E.S.T.), Thursday, NOvember 17, 1960, Town Clerk Office, Main Road, Southold, New York, as time and place for hearing upon application of Peter Karas, a/c Olga Karas, WeSt Front Street, Greenport, New York, for a special exception ~. accordance with the Zoning Ordinance, Article IV, Section 408, for permission to erect and maintain directional sign on the prol~rty of Sunrise Coach Lines, Inc., south side Route 25, West Front Street, Greenport, New York, bounded north by Route 25, east by Fleet Lumber, Inc., south by Giovanelli and Schultze, and west by. Long Island Railroad. Vote ofthe Board: Ayes:- Mr. Rosenberg, Mr. Bergen, and .Mr. Grigonis. It was further RESOLVED that legal notice of hearing be published in the official newspaper under date of November 10, 1960, Vote of the Board: Ayes:- Mr. Rosenberg, Mr. Bergen, and Mr. Grigonis. With reference to the Zoning Con ~ntion to be held December 10, 1960, Mr. Grigonis, Mr. Bergen, Mr. Gillispie, Mr. Doyen and Mrs. Boken plan to attend. A voucher for the fee for each member will be forwarded to the Town Board on November 10th. The next meeting of the Southold Town Bc~rd of Appeals will be held 7:30 P.M., (E.S.T.), Thursday, November 10, 1960 at the Town Clerk Office, Main Road, Southold, New York. The Board received notification from the Town Attorney that Mr. Justice .L. Barron Hill rendered a decision in the Asch, et al, against the Board of Appeals proceeding dismissing the petition and denying the relief ~sought by the petitioners. Meeting adjourned at8:30 P.M.
