Landfill Gas Monitoring Program, Fourth Quarter 2022

Dear Mr. Bunchuck:
On December 13, 2022, D&B Engineers and Architects (D&B) completed the Fourth Quarter 2022 landfill
gas monitoring event for the Town of Southold Landfill located on Cox Lane, off Middle Road (CR 48) in
Cutchogue, New York. As part of this event, each of the existing fifteen (15) landfill gas monitoring wells
(GMW-1 through 15) were screened utilizing a GEM 5000 Plus Landfill Gas Analyzer for the following
parameters: temperature; oxygen; carbon monoxide; carbon dioxide; hydrogen sulfide; and methane which
is reported in lower explosive limit (LEL) percentage. Climatic conditions at the Town of Southold Landfill

on December 13, 2022, were approximately 30F, mostly sunny, with approximately 0-5 MPH wind.
Enclosed with this letter is Figure 1, which shows the approximate locations of each existing landfill gas
monitoring well. Also enclosed with this letter is Table 1, which lists all landfill gas monitoring wells and
their corresponding measurements as measured during the monitoring event. As indicated in Table 1,
methane, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen sulfide were not detected within any of the landfill gas
monitoring wells. Carbon dioxide was detected in all landfill gas monitoring wells at levels ranging
from % to 12.5% by volumebut is not a cause for concern at this time. It should be notedthat there
continues to be no detections of methane within any of the perimeter landfill gas monitoring wells.
The next quarterly round of landfill gas monitoring is expected to be conducted during the First Quarter of
