INSTRUCTIONS
a. This application gust be completely filled in by typewriter or in ink and submitted to the Building Inspector witl
3 sets of plans, accurate plot plan to scale. Fee according to selwdule-
b. Plot plan showing location of lot and of buildings on premises, relationship to adjoining premises or PLIblic
streets or areas, and giving a detailed description of layout of property mast be drawn on the diagram which is part of
this application.
c- The work covered by this application roy not be cam�enced before issuance of building Permit.
d. Upon approval of this application, the Building Inspector will issue a Building Permit to the applicant. Such
permit shall be kept on the premises available for inspection thra0ghout the work-
e. No building shall beoccupied or used in whole or in part for arty purpose whatever until a Certificate of:
occupancy shall have been granted by the Building Inspector.

Re: Building Permit 24311 Z
Dear Building Department:
The above building permit was issued on August 14, 1997. It was for a deck addition to
an existing single family dwelling.
My wife and I were going to put a hot tub on this deck. However, after getting estimates
for the electrical work, plumbing work, etc., we have decided not to proceed with this
construction.
I would appreciate some guidance as to how to proceed with the open permit.
Can we cancel the permit? If yes, can we get some sort of refund of the fee
paid?
Can we use the permit for some other work (e.g., a shed or a fence) provided
we submit new drawings?

Dear Mr. Clancy:
In response to your query regarding your permit #24311Z for a deck
addition, we have no mechanism for cancellation or refund.
7-he permit is active only if you begin the particular work within twelve
months of issuance. The permit and any amendment to itis specific to
work done to the principle dwelling, and does not include accessory work
.such as sheds and fences.
