Dear Craig:
North Fork Audubon Society (NFAS), a 501(c)3 organization founded in 1971, would
like to propose a bid of$24,000 fora two=year term (2023-2024)for maintenance and
execution of the Beach-Dependent Species Management Program. We managed this
program in 2021 and 2022, and in the past, and would like to be considered for the
Contract.
NFAS will hire seasonal stewards and volunteers to locate, post, fence off, and monitor
nesting birds at all sites designated by the NYS DEC within the Town of Southold. A list
of nesting sites shall be submitted to Town of Southold Department of Public Works.
Signage shall be posted by NFAS at various sites describing the program. NFAS shall
perform public outreach necessary to facilitate the program. All activities will be
conducted on Town of Southold property. Mid-season reports shall be.submitted on
June 16, 2023 and June 14, 2024, and final reports will be submitted,by September 29,
2023 and September 27, 2024.
Volunteers and stewards will have the necessary training through the "Long.Island
Steward Training for Threatened and Endangered Species Workshops" being jointly
conducted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the New York State Department of
Environmental Conservation, and The Nature Conservancy.
NFAS will provide accounting for all funds utilized in connection with the program
(including signs for public outreach) upon request and approval of the Town of
Southold.
If additional sites are required due to confirmed sightings, NFAS will monitor these sites
at no additional cost.
NFAS's Point of Contact will be Jennifer Murray, who has over eight years of
experience monitoring threatened and endangered nesting shorebirds with the DEC,
USFWS, the Nature Conservancy in Huntington, and at Orient Beach State Park during
the 2020, 2021 and 2022 breeding and nesting seasons. Jennifer can be reached via
Peggy Lauber, President of NFAS, at the address listed above.

Dear Craig:
North Fork Audubon Society (NFAS), a 501(c)3 organization founded in 1971, would
like to propose a bid:of$24,000 for a two-year term (2023-2024)for maintenance and
execution of the Beach-Dependent Species,Management Program. We managed this
program in 2021 and 2022, and.in the past, and would like to be considered for the
contract.
NFAS will hire seasonal stewards and volunteers to locate, post, fence off, and monitor
nesting birds at all sites designated by the NYS DEC within the Town of Southold. A list
of nesting sites shall be submitted to Town of Southold Department of Public Works.
Signage shall be posted by NFAS at various sites describing the program. NFAS shall
perform public outreach necessary to facilitate the program. All activities will be
conducted on Town of Southold property. Mid-season reports shall be submitted on
June,16, 2023 and June 14, 2024, and final reports will be submitted by September 29,
2023 and September 27, 2024.
Volunteers and stewards will have the necessary training through the "Long Island
Steward Training for Threatened and Endangered Species Workshops" being jointly
a

conducted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the New York State Department of
Environmental Conservation, and The Nature Conservancy.
NFAS will provide accounting for all funds utilized in connection with the program
(including signs for public outreach) upon request and approval of the Town of
Southold.
If additional sites are required due to confirmed sightings, NFAS will monitor these sites
at no additional cost.
NFAS's Point of Contact will be Jennifer Murray, who has over eight years of
experience monitoring threatened and endangered nesting shorebirds with the DEC,
USFWS, the Nature Conservancy in Huntington, and at Orient Beach State Park during
the 2020, 2021 and 2022 breeding and nesting seasons. Jennifer can be reached via
Peggy Lauber, President of NFAS, at the address listed above.
