Southold Town Board of Appeals
June 13,~. 1960
A regular meeting of the Southold Town Board of Appeals was
held~, at the Call of the Chairman and open to the public,~ at
11:45 A.M., Monday~ June 13,. 1960~ at the Town Clerk Office,
Main Road~ Southold~. New York.
There were present: Messrs.. Robert W. Gillispie~.. Jr.,
Chairman, Herbert Rosenberg,. and Charles Grigonis~ Jr.
iis.o present: lv~. Howard M- Terry~ Building Inspector.
Absent: Messrs. Robert Bergen and Serge Doyen~ Jr.
The minutes of the meeting of June 2, 1960, on motion of
Mr. Grigonis~ seconded by Mr. Rosenberg, and carried, were
approved as submitted.
Vote of the Board: Ayes:- Mr. Gillispie, Mr. Rosenberg~
and' Mr. Grigonis.
On motion of Mr. Gillispie,_ seconded by Mr. Rosenberg, and
carried it was RESOLVED that the Board of Appeals set 7:30 P.M. ~.

of Ployd F. King~.~ Jr. ~. Main Street, Orient, New York,.. for a
special exception in. accordance with the Zoning Ordinance~
Article III~ Section 300, Subsection 11~_ for permission to
erect and maintain a directional sign on property of the appli-
cant#, at north side Route 25~ Greenport~ New York. Property
bounded north by other land of the applicant, east by Bingle,.
south by Route 25, and west by D,D. Ripley.

Resolution was offered by Mr. Rosenberg, seconded by Mr.
Grigonis, and carried to set 7545 P.F~ (E.D.S.T.),. Thursday,

York as time and place for hearing upon application of Joseph
Ulrich, Main Road~. Southold, New York~_ for a special exception
in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance, Article IV,~ Section
~08~ for permission to erect and maintain a wall sign on the
face of Ulrich Marine Building, Route 25~. Southold~ New York.
Permission /s also requested to erect and maintain four (4)
words on the face of the building in the four (4) corners
bounding' the wall sign. Property bOunded north= by Creek, east
by Creek, south by other land of the applicant~, west by Route
25.
Vote of the Board: Ayes:- Mr. Gillispie, Mr. Rosenberg,
and Mr. Grigonis.

carried it was RESOLVED that the Board of Appeals set 8:00 P.F~

New York,. for recognition of access in accordance with State
of New York Town Law~ Section 280A. Location of property:

north by F. Baxter~. east by other land of the applicant~ south
by Old HarbOr Road~ and west by other land of the applicant.

New Suffolk~ New York~ and Lester I. and Eloise Bowden,. Greenport~
New York, for a variance in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance,
Article X,. Section 1000A, for permission to redivide property at
corner of Second Street and Orchard Street~ New Suffolk# New York.
Property bounded north by Orchard Street, east by Egnas Benick~
south by Joseph Cosentino~ and west by Second Street.

It was further RESOLVED that legal notice of hearing be
published in the official newspaper under date of Thursday,

The next meeting of the Southold Town Board of Appeals will
be held 7:30 P.F~._ Thursday,~_ June 23, 1960 at the Town Clerk
Office, Main Road~ $outhold~.. New York.
A letter~ directed to Howard Terry,~ from Robert L. Hyatt
acting for the Southold Fire Department was receivedbythe
Board of Appeals. This letter requested permission for the
posting of cardboard notices of events and two signs on the
fence next to the firehouse,

On motion of Mr. Gillispie~ seconded by Mr. Rosenberg~.. and
carried, it was
RESOLVED that the Board of Appeals grant permission to
Robert L. Hyatt, General Chairman~ Fund Raising Committee~
Southold Fire Department~. to place approximately 50 posters~
11" by 14" on the Main Roads and in stores in the Southold
Fire District on the 20th of June,~ 1960 to the i6th of
1960~._ a Period of approximately 27 days. In the letter request-
ing permission from Mir. Hyatt~ it was agreed to remove these
posters as soon as possible after July 16th~ It is believed
this is in the public interest.
It is specifically forbidden to place these posters on
utility poles or on private property without permission.
A letter advising of this resolution was forwarded to
Hyatt.
