APPLICATION TO LAY
OUT TOWN HIGHWAY
TO THE TOWN SUPERINTENDENT OF HIGHWAYS OF THE TOWN OF
SOUTHOLD, IN THE COUNTY OF SUFFOLK:
The undersigned, Lo BARRON HILL and ADELAIDE H. HILL, his
wife, inhabitants of the Town of Southold, liable to be assessed for highway
taxes therein, herel~y apply to you to lay out a highway in said Town to be
known as "HARPER ROAD", and to extend from the southerly line of Petty
Road southerly and then westerly to the easterly line of Wells Avenue, said
proposed highway being described as follows, to wit:
BEGINNING at a monument at the intersection of the
westerly line of Mechanic Street South with the southerly
line of Petty Road; from said point of beginning running
thence along said southerly line of Petty Road, North 76
degrees 59 minutes 50 seconds East, 50.0 feet; thence through
land of L. Barron Hill and Adelaide H. Hill, his wife, three
courses as follows:
(1) South 13 degrees 00 minutes 10 seconds East 192.91 feet;
thence
(2) South 76 degrees 59 minutes 50 seconds West 229.24 feet;
thence
(3) South 58 degrees 08 minutes 40 seconds West 191.70 feet
to the easterly line of Wells Avenue at a point 250.0 feet ~southerly
along said easterly line from a monument at the northerly terminus
thereof; thence along said easterly line of Wells Avenue, North 31
degrees 51 minutes 20 seconds West, 50.0 feet; thence through
said lands of L. Barron Hill and Adelaide H. Hill, his wife,
three courses as follows:
(1) North 58 degrees 08 minutes 40 seconds East, 200.0 feet;
thence
(2) North 76 degrees 59 minutes 50 seconds East, 187.54 feet;
thence
(3) North 13 degrees 00 minutes 10 seconds West, 142.91 feet
to a concrete monument and the point or place of beginning.
The above described proposed highway will pass through the lands of
L. Barron Hill and Adelaide H. Hill, his wife, who hereby consent to the
laying out of said highway.
Annexed hereto and made a part hereof is a certain map entitled
"Map of Proposed Highway to be known as Harper Road at Southold, New
York", surveyed July 17, 1967, by Otto Van Tuyl & Son, Licensed Land
Surveyors, Greenport, New York, which said map shows the course of the
said proposed highway.

DEDICATION AND
RELEASE
WHEREAS. application has been duly made to the Town SuperintendE
of Highways of the Town of Southold, in the County of Suffolk, and State of
New York, for the laying out of a certain town highway to be known as
"HARPER ROAD" to extend from the southerly line of Petty Road southerly
and then westerly through lands of the undersigned to the easterly line of
Wells Avenue,
NOW, THEREFORE, L. BARRON HILL and ADELAIDE H. HILL,
his wife, all residing in the Town aforesaid and owners of lands to be
within the said highway, do hel~eby dedicate, release and convey to the said
Town of Southold, for highway purposes, the following lands, to wit:
BEGINNING at a monument at the intersection of the
westerly line of Mechanic St~'eet South with the southerly
line of Petty Road; from said point oi5 beginning running

degrees 59 minutes 50 seconds East, 50.0 feet; thence through

be known as "HARPER ROAD". :

UPON READING AND FILING the application of L. BARRON HILL
and ADE IDE H. ILL, his wife, dated the day of
1967, and the dedication and release of L. BARRON HILL and ADELAIDE
H. HILL, his wife, dated the/~ day of ~ , 1967, and duly
acknowledged, dedicating and releasing the necessary lands for a proposed
highway to be known as "HARPER ROAD" to e~end from the southerly line
of Petty Road southerly and then westerly to the easterly line of Wells
Avenue through lands of the said L. BARRON HILL and ADEL~E H. HILL
his ~fe, said proposed highway being more fully described in the above
mentioned application and dedication and release,
RESOLVED, that, in accordance with the provisions of Section 171 o~
the Highway Law of the State of New York, consent be and the same hereby
is given that the Town Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Southold
ma~e an order laying out the aforesaid Town highway, the said Town highwa~
to consist of the lands described in the said dedication and release and to
e~end as delineated upon the map thereto annexed, and it is further
RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk be and he hereby is directed to
forthwith cause such release to be recorded in the office of the Clerk of the
County of Suffolk and, upon its return, to attach it hereto.

ORDER LAYING OUT
TOWN HIGHWAY
Application having been duly made for the laying out of a Town
highway in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, to be known
as "HARPER ROAD" extending from the southerly line of Petty Road
southerly and then westerly to the easterly line of Wells Avenue, and a
dedication and release from the owners of the lands through which the high-
way is proposed to be opened, having been given;
NOW, THEREFORE, I0 the Town Superintendent of Highways of the
Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, do hereby determine and order
that a Town highway to be known as ~'HARPER ROAD" shall be, and the same
hereby is laid out in said Town as follows:

Dear Albert:
With respect to the above dedication which was acted upon by the Town
Board at its meeting on April 9, 1968 enclosed herewith are the following:
(I) AppIication to Lay Out Town Highway;
(2) Dedication and Release;
(3) Consent of Town Board;
(4) Order of Superintendent of Highways Laying Out Town Highway.
You should send the Dedication and Release to the County Clerk for recording.
The fee for this will be $5.50.

Re: Dedication of Harper Road
Dear Albert:
Enclosed is the original Application, Dedication, Consent and Order laying out
Harper Road.
I have inserted new maps inthe application and dedicatinn. The only changes
in the maps are the distances along Wells Avenue which has been corrected
from 200 feet to 260 feet. The dedication can now be recorded and the other
papers filed in your office.
