WHEREAS, application has been duly made to the Town Super-
intendent of Highways of the Town of Southold, in Suffolk County,
New York, for the laying out of certain highways to be known
as CROWN LAND LANE and SPUR ROAD, all as shown on a certain map
attached hereto showing the courses of said proposed highways;
NOW, THEREFORE, the said Lefferts P. Edson, residing at
(no number) Main Road, Southold, New York 11971, owner of the
land to be included within the said highways, does hereby /%~
dedicate, release and convey to the said Town of SoutholJ, for~°
highway purposes, the following land, to wit:
ALL those certain roads known as CROWN LAND LANE and SPUR
ROAD, located at Cutchogue, Town of Southold, County of Suffolk

as Map No. 6289 on August 27, 1975.
The lands hereby dedicated, released and conveyed are
specifically shown and delineated upon the certain map which is
hereto annexed and made a part hereof.

UPON READING ARD FILING the application of Lefferts P.
Edson, dated and acknowledged , 1979, and the
dedication and release of Lefferts P. Edsonl dated
1979, and duly acknowledged, dedicating and releasing the
necessary lands for proposed town highways to be known as
CROWN LAND LANE and SPUR ROAD, as shown on a certain map en-
titled, "Map of Crown Land Lane", Town of Southotd, Suffolk
County, New York, surveyed March 12, 1975 by Roderick Van Tuyl,
P.C., Licensed Land Surveyors and filed in the Suffolk County
Clerk"s Office on August 17, 1975 as Map No. 6289, a copy of
which is attached hereto.
RESOLVED, that, in accordance with the provisions of
Section 171 of the Highway Law of the State of New York, consent
be and the same hereby is given that the Town Superintendent of
Highways of the Town of Southold, make an order laying out the
aforesaid highways, the said town highways to consist of lands
described in the said dedication and release and to extend as
delineated upon the map thereto annexed, and it is further
RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk be and she hereby is
directed to forthwith cause such release to be recorded in
the Office of the Clerk of the County of Suffolk and, upon its
return, to attach it hereto.

APPLICATION having been duly made for the laying out of
a Town highway, in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New
York, to be known as CROWN LAND LANE and SPUR ROAD, as shown
on a certain map entitled, "Map of Crown Land Lane", at Cutchogue
Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New YorK, surveyed March 12,
1975 by Roderick Van Tuyl, P.C. and filed in the Suffolk County
Clerk's Office on August 27, 1975 as Map No. 6289, owned by
Lefferts P. Edson, and a dedication and release from the owners
of the lands through which the highways are proposed to be
opened, having been given;
NOWt THEREFORE, I, the Town Superintendent of Highways of
the Town of Southold, County of Suffolk, New York, do hereby
determine and order that Town Highway shall be, and the same
is hereby laid out in said Town as follows:
ALL those certain roads known as "Crown Land Lane" and
"Spur Road", situate, lying and being at Cutchogue, Town of
Southold, Suffolk County, New York, as shown and laid out on a
certain map entitled, "Map of Crown Land Lane", surveyed by
Roderiek Van Tuyl, P.C. on March 12, 1975, filed in the Office
of the Clerk of the County of Suffolk on August 27, 1975 as
Map No. 6289.
The above described highways being 50 feet in width at all
points, in compliance with the highway specifications of the
Town of Southold.

Re: Dedication of Crown Land Lane and Spur Road
Dear Sir:
I have reviewed the dedication documents relative to the dedication of the above
highways and have the following comments:
1. The subdivision map shows an area designated "recharge basin" on the
West side of Crown Land Lane between Lots 5 and 6. However, this recharge
basin is not included in the dedication.
2. The northerly ~end of Crown Land Lane and the easterly and westerly ends
of Spur Road dead end on what appears to be a future continuation of these
highways. Since these highways are not public highways at the present time,
under the Highway Specifications of the Town, a 100 foot turnaround must be
provided, improved and dedicated for each dead end.
3, The title search does not indicate a tax search. The title company should
certify whether or not the lands to be dedicated are on the assessment rolls and
if so assessed that all taxes are paid.
4. The Highway Specifications require a title insurance policy in the amount of
$2, 000.00 running to the Town. The title search indicates the title company,s
liability is limited to $1,000.00. ·
In view of the foregoing, I am returning to you herewith the original dedication papers
in order that they may be revised to comply wit~i the above comment~.

Dear Mr. Tasker.'
We have made the necessary adjustments to the dedication
pa~ers which you suggested in your letter of December 20,
1979.
1. The "recharge basin" is now included in the deed to
the town.
2. ~s to the "turn arounds", these were discussed along
with other requirements of the Planning Boaz~ at the meeting
of that Board on October 4, 1974 with the result that they
would not be required. Our map had to be fitted into the
roads of the adjoining map of Highland Park so that thy ~
maps will compliment each other.
3. A new title search was done showing all taxes paid.
4. A title policy in the amount of $2000 is enclosed.
We enclose herein the original dedication papers showing the
necessary changes and ask that you kindly process them. If
there ia any question, kindly call ~e.
