CONSERVATION ADVISORY COU1NCIL
The following recommendation was adopted a meeting of the Southold Town
Conservation Advisory Council held Friday, January 17, 1997:
No. 1415
Moved by Scott Hilary, seconded by Betty Wells, it was
RESOLVED to recommend to the Southold Town Board of Trustees APPROVAL
WITH SUGGESTIONS of the Wetland Application of JOSEPH CASTELLI 86-2-10
to construct a new bulkhead seaward of and within 18" of an existing bulkhead;
fill to be placed in an existing slip area to be closed off by new bulkhead; 50
c.y. delivered after new bulkhead is installed.
The CAC recommends approval and suggests that the new bulkhead be placed

Resolution to Set the Recreational and Commercial Oyster Harvest Limit
Whereas the Southold Town Trustees have been empowered to set the daily
limit for the commercial and recreational harvest of oysters, and
Whereas the Trustee Shellfish Advisory Committee has been consulted
regarding what the appropriate daily limit should be, and made'a recommendation to
set that limit at 2000 oysters for commercial harvest, and 200 oysters for recreational
harvest, and
Whereas the Southold Town Trustees have determined that this proposed daily
limit will benefit the harvesters of this oyster resource in a very positive way, and
Whereas the Southold Town Trustees have determined that this proposed daily
limit will allow for the efficient harvest of the oyster resource in Mattituck Inlet by
allowing the harvesters to maximize their harvest in the limited amount of time that
resource is available because conditional nature of the fishery, and
Whereas the Southold Town Trustees have determined that the proposed daily
limit will benefit the oyster resource by allowing the efficient harvest of the large
oversized oy~sters thus providing space for the recruitment of juvenile oyster set, and
'Whereas the Southold Town Trustees have determined that the proposed daily
limit wili~ not affect the spawning success of the oyster population in Mattituck Inlet in a
negative way because it has been determined that there are adequate numbers of
spawning adults in the permanently closed area of Mattituck Inlet, and
Therefore be it resolved that Southold Town Trustees do nearby set the,I/~l~ily
oyster harvest limit at 2000 oysters per day for commercial harvest and 200 oysters per
day for recreational harvest.
