Dear Mr. Herman:
The following action was taken by the Board of Town Trustees
during its regular meeting held on February 25, 1998 regarding
the above matter:
WHEREAS, Eh-Consultants on behalf of LOUIS & LUBA CORSO applied
to the Southold Town Trustees for a permit under the provisions
of the Wetland Ordinance of the Town of Southold~ application
dated January 29, 1998, and,
WHEREAS, said application was referred to the Southold Town
Conservation .Advisory Council for their findings and
recom~endations, and
WHEREAS, a Public Hearing was held by the Town Trustees with
respect to said application on February 25, 1998, at which time
all interested persons were given an opportunity to be heard,
and~
WHF~REAS, the Board members have personally viewed and are
familiar with the premises in question and the surrounding area,
and,
WHEREAS, the Board has considered all the testimony and
documentation submitted concerning this application, and,
WHEREAS, the str~cture complies with the standard set forth in
Chapter 37-18 of the Southold Town Code,
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that the project as proposed
will not affect the health, safety and general welfare of the
people of the town,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT,
RESOLVED, that the Board of Trustees grant a Wetland Permit to
construct a 415 +/-' of timber retaining wall to be tied into
existing retaining wall to the east~ construct 10' return,
armored with stone, on west end of structure. Backfill with
approx~ 300 c.y. of clean sand to be trucked in from an upland
source. Bluff slope will be planted (6" -1' on center) with
Ammophila brevi!igulata. Site to be accessed Dy Duck Pond Road.
Located ROW off Oregon Road, Cutcho~ue, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this determination should not be
considered a determination made for any other Department or
Agency which may also have an application pending for the same
or similar project.
Permit to construct project will expire two years from the date
it is signed. Fees must be paid, if applicable, and permit
issued within six months of the date of this notification.
Two inspections are required and the Trustees are to be notified
upon completion of said project.

Describe the nature and extent of the environmental impacts
reasonably anticipated resulting from implementation of the
project as proposed. (Use attachments if necessary)
The purpose of the project, as stated above, is to extend the
existing retaining wall to the east in a westward direction
across the subject property, in order to stabilize the bluff
toe. The impact of this action is that the slope and crest of
the subject bluff will become stabilized and thus protected
against slumping due to erosional scour that would otherwise
occur at the toe. To more effectively stabilize the bluff by
preventing erosion of its face, the slope will be planted with
Cape America Beach Grass (Ammophila breviligulata), similar to
the properties to the east.
