HomeMy WebLinkAboutBAY AVENUE-ORIENT To the Town Superintendent of Highways of the Town of Southold, in the County of Suffolk and State of New York: The undersigned, liable to be assessed for highway taxes in the said Town of Southold, hereby applies to you to lay ou~ alter and straighten a highway in said Tow~ of Southold, known as Bay Avenue, at Orient, by including within said highway a strip of land Beginning at the northwest corner of fence of party of the first part, about 75 feet north of the westerly end of King Street, running thence along northerly line of said land of party of the first part, 5.0 feet, thence southerly and parallel to the present westerly fence line of said party of the first part, 75 feet, more or less, to the northerly line of King Street, thence westerly along said northerly line of King Street, 5.0 feet, thence northerl along the present fence 75 feet, more or less, to the point of beginning, and by excluding from said highway a strip of land on the Westerly side of Bay Avenue belonging to Stella B. Dearborn opposite to the land above mentioned and des- cribed as follows: All that tract or parcel of land lying to the westward of the fence as it now stands on the westerl side of Bay Avenue, fronting on land of party of the second part just north of the intersection of said Bay Avemue with the westerly end of King Street, said fence being about 100 feet in length and its southerly end being 37.3 feet westerly from the southwest corner of land this day conveyed by party of the second part to party of the first part, and running northerly in a straight line through a point 42.9 feet westerly from the northwesterly corner of land this day con- veyed by said party of the second part to said party of the first part, which proposed laying out, alteration and straightening will pass through the lands of Stella B. Dearborn only. Dearborn, for the strmightening, alteration and laying out of a highwmy known ms Bay Avenue, mt Orient in said Town, do hereby consent that suoh straightening, mlteratio~ and laying out be made in ~coordmnoe with the prayer of the within petition. · '.' ~ Supervisor. DEARBORN, of Orient, in the Town of Southold, County of Suffolk and State of New York, in con- sideration of the sum of One Dollar, to me in hand paid by George H. Fleet, Town Superintendent of Highways, of said Town of Southold, and in further consideration of the laying out, altering and straightening of a highway in said Town of Southold, known as Bay Avenue, at Orient, by changing the course of a part of the same so that the Easterly line of said Bay Avenue shall run as follows: Beginning at the north- west corner of fence of party of the first part, about 75 feet north of the westerly end of King Street, running thence along northerly line of said land of party of the first part, 5.0 feet, thence southerly and.parallel to the present west- erly fence line of said party of the first part, 75 feet, more or less, to the northerly line of King Street, thence westerly along said northorly line of King Street, 5.0 feet, thence northerly along the present fence 75 feet, more or less, to the point of beginning, and the Westerly line there- of shall run as follows: Beginning at a point on the Northerl side of King Street 37.3 feet Westerly from the intersection of the Easterly line of Bay Avenue, as hereby altered, with the Northerly line of King Street, running thence in a Northerly direction along a fence as it now stands through a point 42.9 feet westerly from the northwesterly oor~er of land this day conveyed by Stella B. Dearborn to the Towm of Southold, for a distance of about 100 feet, which proposed alteration, straightening and laying out passes through the land of said Stella B. Dearborn only and takes in a strip of land about seventy five feet in length and about five feet in width, do hereby dedicate and release to the Town of ~outhold, all land heretofore owned by me lying Westerly of the present Easterly line of said Bay Avenue, and do hereby release said Town from all damages by reason of the laying out, alteration and straightening of the course of said highway as aforesaid.
