Project Description: Replace sixty-eight (68) dock light units located on
existing docks.
Findings: The project meets all the requirements for issuance of an
Administrative Permit set forth in Chapter 275 of the Southold Town Code. The
issuance of an Administrative Permit allows for the operations as indicated on the
survey prepared by John Minto, Licensed Land Surveyor, received on January
30, 2023, and stamped approved on February 15, 2023.
Special Conditions: Lighting to be Dark Sky Compliance per Town Code.
Inspections: Final Inspection.
If the proposed activities do not meet the requirements for issuance of an
Administrative Permit set forth in Chapter 275 of the Southold Town Code, a
Wetland Permit will be required.
This is not a determination from any other agency.

DOCKSIDER® POWER PEDESTAL, SPECIFICATIONS
A. GENERAL
1. All materials and equipment used in the construction of the unit will conform to
Underwriter's Laboratories standards.
2. Unit shall be ULO listed as a complete assembly.
3. Unit shall be certified to meet all sections of NFPAO 303,Fire Protection
Standards for Marinas and Boatyards.
4. Unit shall meet 406.8 of the National Electrical Code NFPAO 70.
5. Installation is to be in accordance with local codes and approved by a local
electrical inspector.
B.HOUSING AND BASE
1. Housing and base are constructed of NorylO with a UV resistant Polane-PlusO
paint coat.
2. Pedestal base shall be separate from the upper unit of the pedestal such as to
provide ease of wiring and plumbing, and for installation prior to the
pedestal if desired.
3. Each unit is equipped with a hose/cable bracket.
4. Top housing is easily removed with four screws and five lugs for storage in
inclement weather.
C. WIRING
1. The power pedestals shall be unitized at the factory.
2. All wiring shall be copper tinned.
3. All wiring shall have color coding as follows:
Black-Line 1
Red-Line 2
Blue-Line 3
White-Neutral
Green-Equipment Ground
D. RECEPTACLES,BREAKERS,AND COVERS
1. Receptacles shall be of the corrosion resistant marine twist and locking type and
shall meet NEMAO L-5 and L-6 requirements (except for 20 AMP GFI which is
not intended to supply power to boats).
2. All receptacles shall be mounted at least 30"above the dock.
3. 100 AMP receptacles are pin and sleeve.
4. Each receptacle shall be protected by a thermal magnetic breaker and shall be

located at least 30"above the dock. Receptacles shall meet NFPA requirements.
5. Each receptacle shall have a weatherproof, spring-loaded, gasketed, self-closing
Lexan® cover. The cover shall have a coil spring pre-loading to ensure proper
closing pressure and to provide a sealed enclosure from the marine environment
when not in use.
6. Circuit breakers for the receptacles shall have weatherproof, spring-loaded,
gasketed, self-closing Lexan®covers. Breaker covers shall have a coil spring
pre-loading to ensure proper closing pressure and to provide a sealed enclosure
from the marine environment when not in use.
7. Receptacles and circuit breakers shall be UL approved.
E. LIGHTING
1. Each pedestal shall be equipped with a non-metered light. The light
shall be an LED light that is controlled by an
electromechanical photocell and is protected by a fuse.
2. The light shall provide dock illumination such that indirect lighting
extends from the pedestal to the dock.
3. The light shall not be a 360 degree light, nor shall it illuminate
toward the boat slip which is considered to impede boaters' navigation.
F. GROUNDING
1. The aluminum frame and all receptacles shall have an integral
ground that is a part of the equipment grounding system.
G. CABLE TV/PHONE AND CATS (OPTIONAL)
1. If specified,pedestal shall be equipped with one or more outlets
containing a standard marine grade telephone locking receptacle and one(1)male
CATV connector under a weatherproof, spring-loaded, gasketed Lexan® cover.
H. TERMINAL BUSS SYSTEM
1. Buss bars shall be single feed or loop feed, as specified.
2. All buss bars shall be mounted with 316 stainless steel mounting hardware.
3. Single Phase Buss
A. Line-wire range 300-4 CU/AL,torque to maximum of 200 inch-pounds.
B. Load-wire range 6-14 CU/AL, torque to maximum of 35 inch-pounds.
4. Single Phase Loop Buss
A. Line-wire range(2) 300-4 CU/AL,torque to maximum of 275 inch-pounds.
B. Load-wire range 4-6 CU/AL, torque to maximum of 35 inch-pounds, wire
range 10-12 CU/AL, torque to maximum of 20 inch-pounds.
C. Rated for 570A/600v.
5. Single Phase Loop Studded Buss
A. Line-3/8-16 stud,torque to maximum of 200 inch-pounds.
B. Load-(2) 1/4—20 stud,torque to maximum of 50 inch-pounds.
6. Three Phase Loop Buss
A. Line-300 MCM,torque to maximum of 275 inch-pounds.
B. Load-5/16 stud, torque to maximum of 50 inch-pounds.
I. METERING(OPTIONAL)
L If specified,the pedestals shall be equipped with fully electronic
digital kilowatt-hour meters that display the kilowatts used at each slip on a non-
resettable electromechanical recorder counter that is weather and waterproof. The
accuracy of these meters must meet or exceed American National Standards
Institute C-12.1 specifications.
J. WATER(OPTIONAL)
1. If specified,unit shall be capable of providing up to four(4)
3/4»hose bibs with '/4 turn ball valves.
2 .If specified, each ball valve shall be fitted with a brass back-flow
preventer.
