Project Description
Construct an approximately 6 ' wide x +/-102 ' long rock
revetment with a +/-12 ' westerly return, consisting of
100 lb - 400 lb. stone to be laid on filter cloth and
backfilled with approximately 50 cubic yards of clean
sand to be trucked in from upland source. Construct 4 ' x
10 ' wide wood stairs and a 6 ' x 10 ' wood ramp
over/through revetment to provide pedestrian and small
watercraft access.

Dear Mr. Haje,
The following action was taken by the Board of Town Trustees
during its Regular Meeting held on August 27, 1997, regarding
the above matter:
WHEREAS, MAUREEN BENIC, applied to the Southold Town
Trustees for a permit under the provisions of the Wetland
Ordinance of the Town of Southold, application dated August 7,
1997, and,
WHEREAS, said application was referred to the Southold. Town
Conservation Advisory Council for their findings and
recommendations, and
WHEREAS, a Public Hearing was held by the Town Trustees with
respect to said application on August. 27, 1997, at which time
all interested persons were given an opportunity to be heard,
and,
WHEREAS, the Board members have personally viewed and are.
familiar with the premises in question and the surrounding area,
and,
WHEREAS, the Board has considered all the testimony and
documentation submitted concerning this application, and,
WHEREAS, the structure complies with the standard set forth in
Chapter 97-18 of the Southold Town Code,
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that the project as proposed
will not affect the health, safety and general welfare of the
people of the town,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT,
RESOLVED, that the Board of Trustees approves the application of
MAUREEN BENIC (as contract vendee) to construct an approx. 6'
wide X 102' long rock revetment with a 12+1-' westerly return
consisting of 100-400 lb. stone to be laid on filter cloth, and
the start of return ( landward end) will be 20' from the
northwest corner of the house, and backfilled with approx. 50
c.y. of clean sand and construct 4 ' X 10' wide stairs and a 6' X
10' wood ramp over/through revetment to provide pedestrian and
small watercraft access, as per revised drawing and initialed by
Kristin Parish of En-consultants. Located: 395 North Parish
Drive, Southold.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this determination should not be
considered a determination made for any other Department or
Agency which may also have an application pending for the same
or similar project.
•
Permit to construct and complete project will expire two years
from the date it is signed. Fees must be paid, if applicable,
and permit issued within six months of thee date of this
notification.
Two inspections are required and the Trustees are to be notified
upon completion of said project.

RE: MAUREEN BENIC - 395 PARISH DRIVE, SOUTHOLD
Dear Al:
After further assessment of the proposed rock revetment
and conversation with the Benics, it was decided that
the project proposal should be modified as depicted in
the attached project plans dated August 26, 1997 .
Specifically, rather than extending the west end of the
revetment seaward as was originally proposed, the entire
length of the structure will be emplaced along the toe of
the bank.
You will note that a 12 ' return is still proposed along
the west property line, and that an area of backfill is
now shown. Approximately 25 cubic yards of sand
excavated for installation of the revetment will be re-
used as backfill.
I hope that this amended plan will meet the approval of
the Board of Trustees. If you have any questions
concerning the changes, please do not hesitate to contact
me.

The following recommendation was made at the Southold Town Conservation
Advisory Council meeting of August 25, 1997:

Moved by Kenneth Meskill, seconded by Mary Griffin, it was
RESOLVED to recommend to the Southold Town Board of Trustees
DISAPPROVAL of the Wetland Application of MAUREEN BENIC (contract
vendee) 71-1-4 to construct approximately 6' wide x 102' +/- long rock
revetment with a +7- 12' westerly return, consisting of 100 - 400 lbs. stone to
be laid on filter cloth and backfilled with approximately 50 c.y. of clean sand
to be trucked in from an upland source; construct 4' x 10' wide wood stairs
and a 6' x 10' wood ramp over/through revetment to provide pedestrian and
small watercraft access.
395 North Parish Drive, Southold
The CAC feels that the applicant should explore a natural vegetation
alternative to the rock revetment.
