Instructions
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted mm..-..--- to the Building Inspec-
tor with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and unusual
natural or topographic features.
2.Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposel-{S-9 form or equal).
3.Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and installa-
tions, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for the building.
5.Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
B. For existing buildings iprior to April 1957), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1. Accurate survey of property showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural or
topographic features.
2.Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.
3. Date of any housing code or safety inspection of buildings or premises, or other pertinent informa-
tion required to prepare a certificate.

Dear Lou:
Let t~ds letter serve as a written follow up to our conversation on
Monday, Februay 24, 1997 regarding the agricultural storage building at
30105 Main Road Cutchogue, Tax Map ~102-02-16.
As we discussed on Monday it has been brought to the attention of
the Building Department by the PlaDnlng Board that the use of the above
described building is in violation of its certificate of occupancy. The CO
clearly indicates the building is classified as an agricultural building,
reference CO #Z19311 and Z15195. Enclosed are copies of these COs. I
trust they aid in clarification.
As a result, the Planning Board "feels that the Building Department
should revoke the current Certificate of Occupancy and issue, a violation".
After conferring with Laury Dowd, the Town Attorney, on this matter
and also speaking with Ed Forrester, the Town Investigator, and yourself
I feel it to be counter productive and not in keeping with a philosophy of
voluntary compliance to issue any violations at this time. Instead I
respectfully request of you a reply letter as to your intentions and plan
of action to resolve this matter.
I also request a meeting with you on the site so I can see first hand
what type of operations you are conducting.
Please keep in mind that I take the recent correspondence from the
Planning Board seriously and find merit in their concerns and
recommendations.
I trust tl-ds letter encourages and ~o~va~c~; you to respond in a
timely fashion so this issue can be resolved to the satisfaction of all
parties involved. I wait for your anticipated written reply.

The above retail store is conducting a business in a building that has a
Certificate of Occupancy for an accessory nursery building CO # Z-15195,
and a CO # Z-19311 for an addition to existing agricultural building.
After repeated attempts to correct this situation have been made to no
avail, the Planning Board feels that the Building Department should
revoke the current Certificate of Occupancy and issue a violation based
on the fact that a retail store is not permitted by the CO.

LAMINATED COLUMNS - No. 1 or better southern yellow pine nail laminated 3 member 545 columns
used in Morton Buildings are pressure treated below grade to a retention of .8 pounds per cubic
foot with Chromated Copper Arsenate Type III, Oxide type, as listed in Federal Specification
TT-Wo571J. The treated 9ortion of the column embedded in ground shall be laminated with
stainless steel nails.
FOOTINGS AND ANCHORAGE - Column holes are dugs4 feet min. depth below grade and ready-mix concrete
pads or dry concrete mix pads are poured in place (note plans for size & type). Two galvanized
steel angl~ base anchors are placed 1' from bottom Df column. Additional concrete mix is poured
around base of column then backfilled with soil and compacted at 8" intervals.
S'~LASNGOARDS - Splashboards are No. 2 or better southern yellow pine 2"x8" S2S and center matched,
pressure treated to a net retention of .4 pounds per cubic foot with Chromated Copper Arsenate
Type III, Oxide type, in accordance with American Wood Preservers' Association Specification C2.
One rn~ is furnished for building on a level grade.
FRA~IING LUMBER - Side nailers are 2"x4' S4S SPF 2100 MSR spaced approximately 30" D.C. with all
joints staggered at attachment to columns. Roof purlins are 2"x4" S4S No. 2 SPF or better on
~dge space~ apprnxi~ately 20" O.C. All other framing lumbe~ is standard grade or better.
ROOFTRUSSES - Factory assembled with 18 mr BO gauge galvanized steel truss plates as required
and g~aded kiln dried lumber as specified. In-plant quality control inspection is conducted
under the auspices of the TR! inspection bureau. Trusses are designed in accordance with current
standards and specifications for the stated loading.
BRACING - 0.O35"x1-1/4" high tensile steel construction X-bracing in all unobstructed corners·
Lateral truis ties and end bracing as needed.,
SIDING PANELS - 0.019" min., G90 zinc galvanized steel with an additional baked-on silicone
finish. Color is I mil thick on exterior.
ROOFING PANELS (PLASTISOL) - 0.019" min., GgD ziQc galvanized steel. The top side of the panel
. shall have a baked-on plastisol coat with a minimum paint thickness of 4 mils.
TRIM - Die-formed trim of 0.019" min., GPO galvanized steel on gables, ridges, corners, base,
windows and doors with same paint finish as roofing and siding panels.
