Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and unusual natural or topographic features. 2. Box 658 Fishers Island~ N.Y. 06390 D~,'.~ar Mr. Bloethe: Thank you for the cooperation during the fire inspection of the F'ishers Island Shopping Center on August 6~ 1986. The occupancy load of ~/our establishment is 49. This figure is shown on the enclosed certificate which is to be posted in a cons~picuous lc, cation in the public area of your store. During the inspection the following were noted and should be corrected as sr_~on as possible. 1. Both front doors shall be treated as exits,, The entrance doc, r will have to be labeled as an exit and both doors will have to open in the direction c,f egress,, Another solution might be a separate exit door in the front wall equipped with exit hardware and a sign. This would allow the entrance door to remain unchanged. 2. A rear exit should be provided. The rear area we talked about will be sufficient as lon~l as the exit and exit paths are properly indicated with "Exit" signs and "To Exit" signs. The door shall be equipped with emergency egress hardware that will nob impede exit at any time. Solid bars~ bolts~ locks~ or any hardware tha'~ stops egress through the door at any time is illegal and nc, t permitted. .'3. All exit signs must be illuminated any time that the store is open to the public. 4. There shall be a minimum of two (2) sets of err, ergency exit lighting positioned so as t,:.', illuminate the exit paths in case of power interruption. 5. Fire extinguishers shall be provided in the proper number and type according to the indicated hazard. The extinguishers shall be mounted in an accessible location and clearly marked. Any new fabric decorations should have flammability certificates obtained from the suppliers of the materials. 7. A smoke and 'Fire detector and alarm system would a positive additic, n to the store. This might be con~idered a necessity in the light of the family residence above the store. 9. An up to date Underwriters certificate will be required. This is an inspection of the electrical components of the building. i0.
