Read the Instruction Manual and study the Illustrations Carefully. Note the location of the parts and how they are positioned and fastened. 2. Check that you have all parts. The Parts Catalog and Check List is located on the following page, plus a Pictorial Diagram. Important: Each part (except hardware) is identified with a factory part number. The Assembly Key Number is used as a reference in the Pictorial Diagram located next to the "Parts Catalog" and in all assembly steps. To inventory parts more easily, use only the first 4 or 5 digits of the factory part number and ignore the digits after the hyphen (The digits after the hyphen relate to color or material and are not needed except when ordering replacement parts). Remove the parts from the carton and lay them out in similar groups with the part numbers facing ap. Check the first digits of the Factory Part Numbers in the "Parts Catalog" with the ones on the parts and check the quantity of each part in the appropriate column. The fasteners in the hardware kit have been machine counted and extras are included. 3. Before beginning construction, prepare a site for your building. Choose an area that is firm and level, yet allows water to flow away from the building {See Anchoring Procedure PAGE 3). 4. To assemble the building, use a 6" phillips head screwdriver with a NO. 2 tip (a magnetic type is especially helpful). A pair of pliers, work gloves, step ladder and a drill for anchoring the building to the foundation wilt also be required. In some cases an awl (for aligning holes) may be necessary. cautions: 1, Some parts may contain sharp edges. Care must be taken when handling the various pieces to avoid a mishap. For safety sake, please use a pair of work gloves when assembling or performing any maintenance on the building. 2. DO NOT attempt to assemble the building on a windy day because the large panels.., acting as a "sail"... can be whipped about by wind and make the construction difficult. ~ 3, DO NOT attempt to assemble the building if parts are missing because any building left partially assembled may be seriously damaged by heavy winds, {~)Copyright 1983 Arrow Group Industries ~OTIFY Bu ! Self squaring, made of heavy duty, hot dipped galvanized steel. Use this foundation to lay plywood, pour concrete, sand or stone. prepare and level your building site. Construct a level base to dimensions shown. This will provide an apron about 2" wide all around your building. Use enough patio blocks to cover the building area. Set the blocks as level as possible in a footing of sand. SAND, GRAVEL, OR LAWN If your building is to be constructed on sand, gravel or lawn, the area must be firm, level and permit water drainage away from the building site. If you do not use one of the above bases and there is to be heavy traffic from garden vehicles over the ramp at the door opening, it is recommended that a small concrete apron be poured under the ramp. or patio blocks be used to support the ramp. ANCHORING YOUR BUILDING: It is important that the entire floor frame,b,e, anchored after tbe building is erected. Below are recom~,~n~'ed wa;~"~'aq~horing, using the base of your choice. There are ¼ dia. holes provided in the frames for th.is p~rpose./~ If location of building is subjected to high ¼"x 2" ¼' x 2' / ¼"x6" winds it is recommended (in addition to the Sheet Metal Screw Wood Screw/ Lag Screw~ anchoring procedures) that additional screws '~ ~ / be used t.o,,fasten wall panels to floor frame. All panels have been weather protected with an undercoating of zinc plating and sealed with a tough, durable PERMA-PLATE XL2®finish. While the baked on finish of your modern metal building is formulated to give years of lasting beauty, in time even this finish will require repainting. 1. The two key factors in repainting your metal building is the same as for any painting project-careful and complete preparation of the surface and proper applicatioe of the right materials, Wash and scrub the surface with water and detergent (4 to 8 tablespoons of a laundry detergent added to a gallon of warm water). Wipe all areas and rinse thoroughly. Note: Excessively dirty and/or corroded areas can normally be found at roof trim. Remove trim and clean as above. Thoroughly clean off rust and prime with the appropriate first quality metal primer. Top coat with a first quality exterior latex. Apply exterior latex as recbmmended on the label. Two coats are preferred. Do not paint hot surfaces. Metal siding conducts heat substantially more than wood. 2. Periodic door adjustments may be necessary after prolonged use. Two simple adjustments accomplish this, as described in the last door assembly step. The door slides and truck should be kept free of obstructions and lubricated occasionally for smooth use. 3. It is recommended that the doors be kept securely closed when not in use to prevent damage from gusty winds. 4. The roof gutter areas should be kept clear of accumulating leaves and twigs to permit the roof to drain properly. S. To preveot damage to the roof section, do not allow more than 10" of snow to accumulate, Under such conditions, occupancy is hazardous and must be avoided, If building is to be used in a very heavy snow area, we recommend the temporary use of one or more 2x4 wood braces from the floor of building to the main roof beams, For replacement parts, or any questions concerning your utility building, refer directly to the factory.
