Instructions
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted m~ to the Building Inspec-
tor with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and unusual
natural or topographic features,
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposal-(S~9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and installa-
tions, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect Or Engineer responsibJe for the building.
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
B. For existing buildings (prior to April 1957), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:

b. Plot plan showing location of lot and of buildings on premises, relationship to adjoining premises or public streets
or areas, and giving a detailed desqription of layout of property must be drawn on the diagram which is part of this appli-
cation.
c. The work covered by this application may not be commenced before issuance of Building Permit.
d. Upon approval of this application, the Building Inspector will issued a Building Permit to the applicant. Such permit
shall be kept on the premises available for inspection throughout the work.
e. No building shall be occupied or used in whole or in part for any purpose whatever until a Certificate of Occupancy
granted by the Building Inspector.

Footings shall rest on undisturbed soil of minimum bearing
capacity: 3,000 p.s.f. Adequacy of bearing stratum shall be veri-
fied in the field prior to pouring concrete; adjust bottom of
f~tlng elevations as required. Do not place backfill against
basement walls until all floors bracing these walls are in place.
Concrete shall be stone aggregate of minimum compressive, strength
as noted below:
Footings, walls, piers 3000 psi
Slabs 3500 psi
Concrete subject to potentially destructive weathering action
such as freezing and thawing shall be air-entrained. Installa-
tion shall be in accordance with ACI 301, Specificatiohs for
Structural .Concrete for Buildings.
Reinforcing shall be deformed bars conforming to ASTM A615,
~ade 60. Welded wire fabric shall conform to ASTM A185.
,,Structural steel shall conform to ASTM A36 and AISC Specification
for the Design, Fabrication and Erection of Structural Steel for
Buildings. Connections shall be made with 3/4" dia. unfinished
bolts ASTM A307.
Framing lumber shall be of the fellowing minimum grade and spe~zes
for the specifi'ed use. Ail lumber shall be grade-stamped by a
recognize~ grading agency and shall be surfaced dry.
Rafters: HEM Fir, No. 1
Joists- HEM Fir, No. 1
Beams, Girders, Side Pieces of Flitch Plate Beams: Douglas Fir-
Larch NO. 1
Studs: HEM Fir, Stud Grade
Plates: HEM Fir, Stud Grade
Details of wood framing such as nailing, blQcking, bridging,
firestopping, etc. shall conform to: N.Y. ~tate Code Manual
and NFPA Manual of House Building.
All plywood sheeting shall be glue nailed to floor joists using
APA approved elastomeric construction adhesive. (B.F. Goodrich
PL400 or equal)
