APPLICATION FOR C]:ETIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY INSTRUCTIONS
'This application must belfiled in typewriter OR ink and submitted to the Building
Inspector with the follo~ing; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines,
streets, and unusual ~atural or topographic features.
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and Sewerage-disposal(S-9 form).
3. Approval of electrica installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Sworn statement from ~lumber certifying that solder used in system contains less
than 2/I0 of IX lead.
5. Commercial buildings, industrial buildings, multiple residences and similar.'
buildings and install~:tlons, a certificate of code compliance from the Architect
or Engineer responsible fo~ the building.
6. Submit Planning Board Approval of completed site plan requirements.
For existing buildings (~rior to April 9, 1957] non-conforming uses, or buildings
and "pre-existing" land qses:
I. Accurate survey of property showing all property lines, streets, buildings and
unusual natural or toEograpbic features.
2. A properly completed ~pplication, a consent to inspect signed by the applicant
and a certified abstract of title issued by a title company which shall
show single and separate ownership of the entire lot prior to April 9, ]957.
. If a Certificate of Oc!cupancy is denied, the Building Inspector shall state the
reasons therefor in writing to the applicant.
3. Date of any housing edde or safety inspection of buildings or premises, or other
pertinent informationI ·

For Vacant Land'Certificdte of Occupancy:
I. An application for vacant land Certificate of Occupancy shall be submitted,
and a certified abstraict of title issued by a title company showing single and
separate ownersblp of !the entire 10t prior to April 9, 1957 shall also accompany
the application. If al Certificate of Occupancy is denied, the Building Inspector
shall state the reason~ therefor in writing to the applicant.

building permits have expired, and
have not been issued.
it was noted that the above
Certificates of Occupancy
A final inspection was made on September 28, 1989 and
notices were sent with the application for C.C., requesting an
Underwriters Certificate, Plumbers Certificate and check in the
amount of $25.00 for the alteration and addition done under
building permit #14396-Z. For building permit %16690-Z for the
inground swimming pool and fence, we requested that you amend
the plans to show the deck around the pool, and an additional
fee will be due at that time, along with the $25.00 fee for the
Certificate of Occupancy. To date, we have not received these
papers.
According to the Code of the Town of Southold Article
XXVII-100-281 and 100-284, a building permit is needed for
construction of an addition to an existing dwelling. It is
unlawful to occupy a dwelling or use said addition until a
Certificate of Occupancy has been issued.

In order to avoid any legal action you must correct the
above violations immediately. Please send the appropriate papers
to this office so that we may issue the Certificate of Occupancy.

a. This application must be completely filled in by typewrite~iS~ in ink and submitted to the Building Inspector, with 3
sets of plans, accurate plot plan to scale. Fee according to schedule.
b. Plot plan showing location of lot and of buildings on premises, relation'ship to adjoining premises or public streets
or areas, and giving a detailed description of layout of property must be drawn on the diagram which is part of this appli-
cation.
c. The work covered by this application may not be commenced before issuance of Building Permit.
d. Upon approval of this application, the Building Inspector will issued a Building Permit to the applicant. Such permit
shall be kept on the premises available for inspection throughout the work,
e. No building shall be occupied or used in whole or in part for any purpose whatever until a Certificate of Occupancy
shall have been granted by the Building Inspector.
