Instructions
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted ~ ~ to the Building Inspec-
tor with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of propertv wi~h accurate location of ell buildings, property lines, streets, and unu~Jal
natural or topographic featu res.
2, Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposal-(S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4, Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and installa-
tions, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for the building.
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
B. For existing buildings {prior to April 1957), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1. Accurate survey of p~:Operty showing all propertv lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural or
topographic features.
2. Sworn statement of owncr or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.
3. Date of any housing code or safety inspoction of buildings or premises, or other pertinent informa-
tion required to prepare a certificate.

Gentlemen:
Please be advised that Craig Richter and I own the
subject parcel. We took title to the property on November 15,
1985. I am enclosing a copy of our survey which shows the pro-
perty's elevations which are calculated from mean sealevel accord-
ing to our surveyor.
We intend to construct a private one-family dwelling
at least one-hundred twelve feet (112') from the southwesterly
boundary of the property which divides our property from the
property now or formerly of the State of New York. The house
is to be constructed where the property's elevation is not less
than fifteen (15) feet. It is assumed that the actual elevation
will be between twenty-five (25) feet and thirty (30) feet.
The Town of Southold requires a letter from you stating
that the construction is not within your jurisdiction. Please
provide us with such a letter.

II.
CONCRETE:
A. Unless othe~ise noted, all slabs on grade shall be 3000 p.s.i. (28 day compressive
strength) concrete on 4" sand or gravel fill with 6x6-10/10 W~ reinforcing. Interior
slabs shall be placed on a 6 mil polyethylene vapor barrier.
B. Provide 1/2" expansion joint material between all concrete slabs and abutting concrete or
masonry walls occurring in exterior or unheated interior areas.
III. FOUNDATIONS:
A. Verify depth of frost footings with local codes.
B. Unless otherwise noted, foLLndabion walls shall be constructed with:
1. Grade "N", Type I, hollow load-bearing con cJ~ete masonry ~nits.
2. Type "M" mortar.
3. Horizontal reinforcing: "Dur-O'Wal" continuous every other block course.
4. Vertical Reinforcing: Reinforce walls of excavated areas with ~6 vertical rebate
at 6'-0" o.c. & at each corner & both sides of openings.
5. Place 1/2" dia. X 12" sill plate ~chor bolts at each vertical rebar (where occur-
ring) or at 6'-0" o.c. & at each corner & both sldes of openings.
6. Waterproof walls of excavated ~eas with 3/~" concrete parging & 2 coats asphaltic
base waterproofing compound.
7. S" dia. drainage tile at perimeter of excavated areas. Cove! top of joints w/15
felt & minim%nn of 18" coarse rock or gravel. Slope tile 3/16" per ft. min. to point
of discharge.
C. Provide ter~L~te protection as required by HUD min. property standards.
STRUCTUPJkL STEEL:
A. Ail structural steel shall conform with ASTM Specification A-36.
B. Unless otherwise noted, provide a 2-by plate bolted [o the t~p flange of all steel
beams with 3/8" dia. bolts staggered at 2'-0" o.c. P~gidly fasten all connecting
rafters and joists.
CD~RPENTP~Y:
A. Un less otherwise noted, frying lumber shall be Douglas fir construction grade. Be~s,
headers & floor joists shall have an allowable bending stress of 1200
B. Unless othe~ise noted, provlde: 1. Double header joists & trimmers at all floor openings.
2. Doable joists under all parallel pa~ltions.

5. Floor Construction: 1/2" plywood sheathing with exterior glue under 1/2" plywood

7. Exterior wall sheathing: 1/2" insulation board with 1/2~' x 48" wide C-D ext. ply-
wood both directions at all corners.
8. All interior walls & ceilings are to be covered w~th 1/'2" gypsLu~ board, with metal
corner reinforcing, tape, float & sand.

VI. MISCELLJkNEOUS:
