a. This application must be completely filled in by typewriter or in ink and submitted to the Building Inspector, with 3
sets of plans, accurate plot plan to scale. Fee according to schedule.
b. Plot plan showing location of lot and of buildings on premises, relationship to adjoining premises or public streets
or areas, and giving a detailed description of layout of property must be drawn on the diagram which is part of this appli-
cation.
c. The work covered by this application may not be commenced before issuance of Building Permit.
d. Upon approval of this application, the Building Inspector will issued a Building Permit to the applicant. Such permit
shall be kept on the premises available for inspection throughout the work.
e. No building shall be occupied or used in whole or in part for any purpose whatever until 9 Certificate of Occupancy
shall have been granted by the Building Inspector.

Study the plan th~r'-oughJy. Be sure to check your local code requirements
and Jf required obtaln a building permit. Omit steps 2 through 9 if slab
is poured by contractor.
2. Locate the garage on your Jot to conform to local code requirements.
Such as side and rear lot set backs. Allow enough room for easy entrance,
exit or turn around, if possible.
3. Stake out the foundation carefully. Be sure all corners are square,
diagonal measurements should be equal. Remember that dimensions on
plan are to outside of concrete and face of studs.
4. Dig trench for foundation wail and footing. Bottom of trench to extend
6" below local frost JJne. Call BuJldfog inspector to check bcation and
trenches before pouring concrete.
5. Pour concrete footing at bottom of trench 8" high. Provide key in footing
by inserting 2"x4" in center of Footing for length of trench. Remove
2"x4" after concrete is set.
6. Form both sides of concrete foundation wall from top of fooling to a
height 8" above establJshed grade. Call BuiJdlng inspector to check
wail forms before pouring concrete. Have [oral electrlcaJ contractor
install conduit, under slab for electrical service. After farms are in place
and securely braced~ pour readymlx concrete to the top of forms.
Spading to insure total compaction and all voJds are filled.
7. Set anchor bolts with washers [n concrete where shown on plans 1 3/4"
in from edge of concrete and extendJng at least 2½" above surface.
Space two baits per plate minimum.
8. Forms are removed after concrete has set. Backfill earth around wall
to 8" from top af wall.
9. Use gravel fill over entire floor area and tamp to within 8" o[ top of
rear foundation wall and 10" of top at front to provide 2" pitch for
floor slab. Pour concrete floor slab to thickness es shown on drawing.
If desired use 6"x6" #10 welded wire Fabric reinforcing Jn the floor slab.
10. Place 2x4 treated bottom plate on top of bolts w~th edge of 2x4 flush
with outside face of concrete and tap with a hammer over each boJF to
locate posftJon of bolt holes. Drill a 3/4" dia. hole Jn bottom plate.
Check by placing 2x4 over bolts and be sure that edge of 2x4 js flush
with face of concrete.
NOTE: Note that the walls are layed out in at least twa panels each.
This has been done for ease of handlTng the pre-c?sembJed walls.
Begin construcHon by assembling wall panel A, B, C and D~ on the
concrete garage slab. Assemble all four panels before tilling them up
Jnto posTtion.
11. Lay the predrlJled 2"x4" bottom plate and one 2"x4" top plate for panel
A sJde by side and mark position of 2"x4" studs 16" o.c. as shown on
panel elevatlon drawing (note that the first stud space on each end of
panels Js measured from the outside Face af stud to the center line of
the next stud). Assemble wall secHon A using pre-cut 2"x4" studs
7~-8 5/8" long. NalJ through top and bottom plates [nfo studs using
two 16 penny naiJs at each connection.
12. Let-in bracing. Ch'eck panels for squareness. Lay the 1"×4" corner brace
on panel outer corner at top of panel down to bottom plate at a 45
degree angle. Mark 1"x4" position on each stud. With your circular
power saw cut into stud 3/4" at each mark. Using a chisel and hammer
knock out the pieces of wood leaving a.3/4" recess Jnta which you
place the 1"x4" corner brace and nalJ ~ith two 8 penny nails at each
stud and top and bottom plate.
Repeat steps 11 and 12 for panels "B", "C" and "D".
13. Now that you have the first four wall panels assembled you can start
the erection of the walls. Tilt up panel "A" and place it in pos]tlon
over the anchor bolts. Brace panel securely with 2"x4" brace to
ground stake. Place washer and nut an anchor bolts and tighten down
panel. Follow same procedure for panels "B% "C" and "D".
14. Repeat instructions number 10, 11 and 12 for assembly and erection
of panels E~ F~ G and H.
15. As panels are erected yau can add the 2"x4" tie plate lap at corners
as shown on wall framing elevatfons. Nall wfth 10 penny naris 24'~
on center.
16. Assemble girder using three 2"xl0"s nailed together with two 20 penny
naJJs at each end. Stagger nall 20 penny halls 32" o.c. along top and

NOTE: Now that your deck Js FO place you have a good working
surface on which to work. It is suggeCed that you build the gable
paneJs~ yo~ Four loft panels and the bwelve roof trusses and two gable
end units on the deck~ movJng each ~nit to the side as it is completed.
Build stair according to plan.
Assemble the gable and wall Rands udng pre-cut 7'-0" bng 2'"x4"
studs and 2x4 top and bottom plate. Follow the wail framing elevafions
for stud spacing. Nail through the to~ ~nd bottom plate [nfo the 2"x4"
stud using two 16 penny nails per stuc top and bottom. (Note do not
attach 2"x4" tie plate to panels). Nell 1"x4" diagonal brace on bac~
of loft panels.
Assemble the roof trusses using the pre-cut 2"x4" raFter~ 2"x4" cro~s
tie and 1"x6' hanger and ~J]ce plate us]ng three 8 penny no]Ps at each

Layout and cut two rafters to size and check for accuracy. (Be sure
to use the same rafter as a pattern to ~ake all addiHonal rafters).
When ail wall panels are assembled y~u can start erecHon of the walls.
Tilt up gable panels and place Jn pos] Jan. Brace securely wTth 2"x4"
braces. Nail bottom plate to Floor. Fdlow same procedure for panels~

Add 2x4 tie plate to top of paneJs~ a~shown.
Lift roof trusses resting on top plate sFace 24" on center. Use gable
truss at each end wTth 2x4 nailers ad~d for nailing siding. Suggest
usJng truss anchor tie down at truss erds.
Cut 2"x4" gambrel rafters and set on ?xd" plate. Note top rests
outside of panel plate and laps tnJss
penny nails. End gambrel rafters are kutted to truss.
Cut studs to ~ill [n gable ends under ~mbreJ rafters. Add eave blocking
and any other framJng necessary as shown on plan.

instructions in bundle. Extend shingl~ 3/4" beyond Face of thru
~ard~ and excess of shingles should ~e cut from inside only in order
to maJntain.a trim appearing edge.

plan. Assemble two garage door headers using two 2"xl0"s cut to
length of ~L~" using 20 penny nails. Assemble girder post using three
2"x4" posltlon and brace.
Add 2"x4" cripples at each side of door opening. Lift assembled header
into position and rest on cripples and naJl to panel studs using 16 penny

Start siding at bottom, moklng sure tFaf first board is level. Check
for level at every third board and cutall joints and ends square,
staggering joints on side walls. At toI of walls and gables cut siding
to fit tightly against roof sheathing orlTim boards (see plan).
Trim eaves and corners. Install doors.
