SCTM# 1000-26-1-7 Owner: Richard Hoblock RESOLUTION: WHEREAS, 595 Navy Street, Orient,NY, is on the Town of Southold Registry of Historic Landmarks; and WHEREAS, as set forth in Section 56-7(b)of the Town Law(Landmarks Preservation Code)of the Town of Southold, all proposals for material change/alteration must be reviewed and granted a Certificate of Appropriateness by the Southold Town Historic Preservation Commission prior to the issuance of a Building Permit; and WHEREAS, the applicant's, submitted a proposal on November 7,2022,to maintain an"as-built"air conditioner unit located in a side yard of a single family dwelling; and WHEREAS, the air conditioning unit is located on the easterly side of the dwelling and is depicted on a survey prepared by Barret Bonacci and Van Weele,P.C. dated March 2, 2022; and in photographs submitted by the applicant on November 7, 2022; and WHEREAS, as a condition of approval,the Commissioners requested that the applicant build a wooden barrier/fence built to visually shield the air conditioning unit from Navy Street; and WHEREAS, the applicant shall submit to the Commissioner photographs of the wooden barrier/fence once it is installed. NOW THEREFORE BE.IT RESOLVED,that the Southold Town Historic Preservation Commission determines that the placement of the"as-built"air conditioning unit located in the side yard,and shielded by a wooden barrier/fence, in the above referenced application meets the criteria for approval under Section 170-8 (A)of the Southold Town Code; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the Commission approves the request for a Certificate of Appropriateness, subject to approvals by all involved agencies; and Certificate of Appropriateness, HPC,Hoblock, SCTM No. 1000-26-1-7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that any deviation from the approved plans referenced above may require further review from the commission. Furthermore, and equivalent to the property located at 510 Navy Street, Orient, our understanding is that this Property is not within the purview of the Commission since it was built in the 70's and it's a non-participating property. For this reason, and in consonance with your Resolution #09.30.21 related to property 510 Navy St. Orient (here in copy), we kindly request that since this property is not a historical structure, the Commission waive the requirement of a public hearing in order to move forward with the "as built" permit for the Air Conditioning Unit. We estimate as per the inscriptions on the Unit that it was installed around 2013, before the time we owned the property which was purchased in 2019.
